Lovely relaxing break
Pros:

Beautiful location, very peaceful. Spa treatments for top quality and the food excellent. V friendly and helpful staff.

Cons:

A bit hard to cool the room down with the heatwave and no air-con, but it’s an old building so to be expected.

Enjoyable restful stay. Great facilities, welcoming staff and amazing views from the garden.
Pros:

Breakfast was great and the staff very welcoming.

Cons:

It was a bit warm in the room at the start of another heatwave. As it is a listed building if I were to return
I would take in consideration when I would stay due to lack of AC.
The sauna needs a bit of tlc.

We come to stay every year. It is the perfect location.
Pros:

Excellent food. Good range of choice. Prompt service

Cons:

We stayed two nights and ate dinner in the restaurant both evenings. The menu was the same both nights which was fine for us. Does it change regularly and if so how often?

Wouldn’t go back sorry
Pros:

Beautiful building, lovely bathroom
Lovely dinner

Cons:

Arrived in a heatwave for 4 nights. Room very hot all day and night, had an upstairs room, window only opened a few inches (security), given a fan which was less than useless. Cost £16.95 extra a night for our small dog, no fridge for her food, that would have been another £10per night. Asked when arrived if we could get a breakfast/dinner package for 4 days, told no. Yet I heard receptionist tell someone there was a package available. No cold water tap one morning. Rainwater shower was awful, no power in it at all. Wouldn’t wash the shampoo out. Hand shower was more powerful but you had to hold it to shower, and not easy to wash hair one handed. Our Bed linen although 4 sweaty nights wasn’t changed at all.

Pros:

Lovely country house

Cons:

The room was noisy from the corridor.
The water pressure in the shower was poor
Considering the nice large the size of the room the bed was rather small.
The food was rather pricey for what it was.

Very enjoyable!
Pros:

Location, comfort and atmosphere.

Cons:

Needs air conditioning in current summer temperatures. Provided fans struggle to keep the room cool, appreciate it’s a listed building.

Visiting Rye
Pros:

Good location for visiting Rye. Big, clean room. Nice bar area. Very soft towels.

Cons:

Rooms were ridiculously hot and pretty unbearable so we didn't sleep much at all. Due to the age of the building, we understand that air-conditioning may not be suitable but the hotel really needs in invest in some decent fans for the bedrooms. We had a terrible fan in our room which didn't work very well at all. We asked at reception if they had any other fans but they said they couldn't help. The bathroom looked clean but the shower was no more than a trickle and there was no hot water at all. However, the cold shower was actually quite a relief because of the extreme heat in the room! The hotel is a lovely building but it needs a little tlc and some attention to detail.

Pros:

The staff were all incredible. Very accommodating, especially of our fluffball who was having a hard time in the heat, and

From the moment we were greeted at check-in by a large welcoming smile (this staffer also helped and mentored other staff, which I loved to see!) through meals and many, many cocktails, and to check-out, which was easy and painless, the staff were wonderful.

They're dog friendly, and we have a friendly dog - he was treated so well, as we were, and I would absolutely return just for the people.

Rye is also just down the road - so the location is perfect for lazy days in their garden, or heading to the beach, or to have a wander around the medieval town.

Cons:

I feel bad giving the place a 7 - they're just not set up for heatwaves. It's a listed building so there isn't much they can do, but the room was uncomfortably hot. Thankfully the garden had plenty of shade for daytime!

The bar and restaurant were also really hot, but they had some decent fans blasting that helped keep the temp manageable.

There were some small old-building niggles, but nothing of note.
