I recommend it
Pros:

The staff are nice, especially Saleh. He is so friendly, helpful, and funny person.
The room and bathroom are spacious and clean.
The room has a good AC and a nice window.
The bed is comfortable and the elevator is good.
The free tea and coffee.

A fabulous value for those who want to immerse themselves in every day Turkish life.
Pros:

The location was terrific. Right in the heart of everyday life of Istanbul. This is the real Istanbul not the Disney version nor the tourist version. The staff at the White Palace Hotel were absolutely incredible. So helpful, so welcoming, and just a whole lot of fun. It’s a great value for the money. This is not a luxury hotel but it’s a solid, clean, friendly place to stay. I love the little outdoor courtyard with private tables, separated by plants. Each room has a desk, a safe, a refrigerator, flatscreen, TV, and a kettle, I honestly don’t think there’s a better value in town.

Cons:

This is an older property and some things could use a little TLC. The walls are a bit thin and so I could hear my next-door neighbors TV.

Went to check the sity, only slept in the hotel
Pros:

I assume the owner is always near the hotel, talking with his friends or drinking tea. He is very friendly.

Cons:

The walls are very thin and I could hear people walking or talking. The breakfasts were Turkish and that’s ok if you like that and so so if you don’t. But there are boiled eggs and some pastries.

Das Personal ist wirklich super und sehr herzlich. Allerdings gab es im Badezimmer einen unangenehmen Geruch und man kann sich kein Essen von außerhalb bestellen – beziehungsweise wurde es mir nicht erlaubt, das Essen aufs Zimmer bringen zu lassen. Aber gut, sie treffen da wohl ihre eigenen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen. Außerdem reiste nebenan eine Familie an, die bis zum Morgen ziemlich laut war. Abgesehen davon war aber alles bestens. Das Personal ist wie gesagt top und sehr freundlich. Vielen Dank!
