Professional property host/manager
Went to the hotel , all gates where locked ,security signs on the all doors ,no one around , no one answerd the phone number from the hotel , looked like it was closed down, did not recieve any information about why it was like this, just an email ,asking how was my stay at this place, had to find amother hotel on the day.
First of all they didn't have a room in the hotel, so put me in the new apartments across the street.
No one available when we checked out as they don't start work until 0900, but happily leave the hotel unlocked for anyone to just walk in and potentially rob the place.
Charged me twice for my booking and never answered the phone when I called to claim, so had to go through my bankn to get a refund.
Awful staff, woeful customer service.
Would never use again and advice others to do the same.
Upon arrival was greeted by a pleasant young lady who explained there was no reception at the moment so she kindly showed me up to my room.
The room and bed itself not too bad but had a few issues which are basic maintenance
ie: loose bracket holding up curtain pole, light bulb 1of 2 in bathroom ceiling bulb blown no bulb in bathroom light/mirror no bulb in shaving mirror and cobwebs all above curtains.
I firmly advise all current and potential customers to avoid this hotel at all costs. To call it a hotel is a joke. At best it's a bed for the night. The manager tried to initially get us to pay for our rooms before we visited. Reluctantly we did a week before our stay. On our check in day we turned up at the hotel and 'eventually' found some staff to check in. The manager showed us to our room and told us that unfortunately the restaurant was closed. We asked if it would be open for breakfast, we were eventually told that it would be open for breakfast from 10am! The room was unbearably hot. There was an AC control unit in the bedroom but it did not work. The temperature was set at 19 deg c - but the actual room temperature was 26.5 degs. The mattress was so uncomfortable that we ended up buying a new bed sheet and sleeping on top of the duvet in the sweltering sauna that was the room. The pièce de résistance was the shower in the en suite which only omitted scalding hot water. The whole experience was a joke. Half used toilet rolls, no room cleaning, one hanger in the cupboard, a room safe that couldn’t be unlocked. We were promised a 50% refund for our inconvenience. The manager requested our bank details because they could not refund to the credit card. No surprise the refund never came. Organising a gathering in a brewery comes to mind with this hotel. Avoid this hotel and the scammers that currently run it. The UK Health and Safety Executive will have a field day here.
The hotel was very clean and staff friendly. We had welcome snacks and drink on the house.
Experience was very good overall with the only exception the building is bit old and need a touch of refurbishment
Had small flies coming from the vents of my room and was a bit unpleasant
A lovely quaint building with a lot of character greeted us. I could not find reception as everything is done from the bar. The Hotel had a very busy bar for the local Night Time Economy but the few present Staff Members were just awesome throughout. It had to be said that the food was excellent at the restaurant. The only downside was the noise at night from the bar toilet hand dryers and the bar Patrons outside and the matresses were a little uncomfortable but adequate. Definitely would stay again but the choice of Hotel was made for its location very near to a Daughter's to-be-former Student digs this time so we'll have to find an excuse.
We recently spent two nights at The Walton as we had tickets to a gig at Rock City. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly. Our room was well equipped, excellent quality bedding, luxurious bathroom and fresh milk for hot drinks on request.
The decor throughout the hotel is quirky; we especially loved the Monkey Room with the painted mural and bright wingback chairs.
We would definitely return if we were coming to Nottingham again.
The only issue we had was with Expedia who charged us twice. Gareth ensured that this problem was raised with Expedia and I’m awaiting a refund.
This fabulous hotel is an antidote for anyone who is bored with the standard, ubiquitous, boring, characterless hotels we experience everywhere. The Walton, a Grade II listed building, oozes character, charm and quirkiness.
It is located a very short walk from Nottingham City Centre, on the edge of 'The Park' with its 226 gas street lamps - the largest surviving gas-lit area in Europe (150 acres).
The Walton staff are excellent (a big shout-out especially to Gareth and Dana, but all were good).
The bar and terrace area is populated by a huge range of people - from university students to the retired .... but the stars of the show were undoubtedly Hugo and Hunter - the resident puppies who wander around getting thoroughly deserved attention (the bar and terrace are dog-friendly, I saw 2 other visitors with dogs).
Very cool older hotel. But it’s in need of upkeep and upgrades. The reason for the low rating for service was because there was no formal registration area, we basically ran into an employee and she quickly showed us to our room. Never saw her again and there was no one in the hotel when we checked out. We left our room keys on the bar. We did eat dinner in their very cool dining room and the service by two men was excellent. The outdoor patio area was nice but needs cleaning, weeding and general maintenance.
Lovely hotel. Just ashame no staff on hand or to ask questions. Got no sleep due to loud music and fight outside and inside the hotel early hours in the morning. Not a nice experience unfortunately for a beautiful hotel. Customer service needs improvement
Upon arrival told a fault on the Expedia booking system had double booked the room. They had no room available for us. I have not yet received a refund for the £105 paid at the time of booking. Disappointing of Expedia. Staff at hotel very apologetic & helpful.
