Gorillas Volcanoes Hotel

Very friendly and helpful staff with a restaurant on-site and the historic hotel/hangout across the street. A bit far from the national park. No fan, AC or mosquito net in room. Luckily, I didn't need the latter. A bit worn around the edges, but relatively comfortable.

Good sized room. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Comfortable bed.

The stay was great. The hotel is lovely and the staff is really flexible.

Kleines Hotel mit sauberen kleinen Zimmern und einem schönen Garten mit Pool. War sehr ruhig und angenehm, da nur wenige Gäste da waren. Das Essen war im Vergleich zu umliegenden Hotels sehr gut. Kann das Hotel auf jeden Fall empfehlen

Meget lydt med trafikstøj fra vejen. For lidt / svagt lys på værelset. Ingen myggenet.

Et ok hotel til prisen men noget slidt og ikke luksus. Fint wifi og søde smilende personale.

Excellent base from which you can plan your gorilla excursion to Volcanoes National Park. The hotel is quite ordinary: not bad, not great. It's fine if your expectations are low.

Food OK but not exceptionally good. Service a bit slow, but every meal we ate in Rwanda was subject to incredibly slow service

Positiv:
+ gutes Frühstück (sogar ab 6.00 Uhr, bei Bedarf auch bereits um 5.30 möglich); man kann quer durch die 2 Frühstückssets/-menüs auswählen.
+ freundliche Mitarbeiter (bis auf die weibliche Rezeptionistin, die "muffig" und gelangweilt wirkte)
+ hofseitige Zimmer sind ruhig (ACHTUNG: poolseitig gehen die Zimmer auch auf die Hauptstraße und sind sehr laut)
+ tolles Service: die vom Wandern schmutzigen Wanderschuhe können innerhalb einer Stunde außen gereinigt werden (Kosten: USD 2/RWF 2.000)

Negativ:
- hofseitige Zimmer haben eine sehr schlechte Wifi-Verbindung
- abends ist das Licht im Zimmer unzureichend: Es gibt nur auf einer Bettseite eine Nachttischlampe und eine weitere am Schreibtisch. Kein Deckenlicht in der Mitte des Zimmers.
- aus der Toilette stinkt es nach Kanal; sogar wenn man den Deckel zumacht und die Badezimmertür zumacht, riecht es zeitweise bis ins Zimmer rein.

It was fine for the purpose but it is quite close to the main road so not terribly relaxing

Endroit plutôt tranquille. Le préposé à la réception était tout sourire et d'une grande gentillesse. Le petit déjeuner correct sans plus. Bon endroit pour y passer une nuit.
