Super friendly staff
The bedroom walls were thin
The Columbia Hotel offers a distinctly classical London charm, with an understated elegance that feels both authentic and welcoming. Its location, just moments from Hyde Park and well connected to the rest of the city, makes it an ideal base for exploring. Combined with its character and comfort, it represents excellent value for money in a city where such qualities are not always easy to find.
Honestly speaking, I missed the typical English breakfast. Be that as it may, the Continental breakfast options were excellent!

Only one thing that didn’t satisfy us, was the breakfast. Really plain (eggs or omelet weren’t an option), and there are lots of things that can be improved.

I have been a frequent guest at this hotel, which makes this experience particularly disappointing.
During my most recent stay, the receptionist on duty (a male staff member around 55+ at reception) displayed accusatory and rude behaviour. He made comments such as saying he “always has to chase” me, which was completely inaccurate. In almost a year of staying here regularly, I have only interacted with this staff member perhaps two times.
His attitude included eye-rolling, hostile looks, and a complete lack of professionalism or customer service. When the situation escalated and I became visibly distressed, there was no empathy shown.
On a previous stay, a fire alarm was triggered after a hot shower and instead of any apology or explanation, I was blamed for it. Some rooms also have phones that do not work, yet when the hotel cannot reach you because of this, the blame is again placed on the guest.
As a frequent guest who has spent more than £5,000 at this hotel in recent months, it is extremely disappointing that one staff member’s behaviour has led me to decide not to return.
