Breakfast was fine however, getting to the restaurant for a handicapped person is not easy despite the ramp.
Parking - if you leave parking spots difficult to get upon return. Did not like having to back up all the way to exit.
TV did not have remote for Netflix
Limited dinner menu for a pricey some items not available
Ordered a wine and cheese board - thought would be in our room upon arrival but had to wait several hrs for it and only 3 glasses for 5 adults
Breakfast was great! Pool was awesome!
Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Parking was a little tough.
Owners friendly and welcoming. Property has a beautiful water view. We were there for fouth of July and we were able to see the Booth Bay Harbor fireworks. Excellent breakfast each morning. Dinner at the at the property restaurant was also very good. Plan to return.
Nothing that I can think of.
Breakfast was great! Pancakes were amazing!
We ran out of toilet paper twice.
The water pressure was low and the temp in the shower was hot and then cold in an instant.
The scenery surrounding the hotel was wonderful. The proximity to the inlet and kayaks being readily available was a plus. The restaurant at the hotel was outstanding-we had dinner there on the first night and the morning breakfast was top notch. The bed in our room was comfortable.
On the down side, the shower leaked onto the floor in the bathroom, there was a scarcity of electric outlets in the room and they were inconveniently located. The bed was comfortable but the walls were thin as I could hear more than I wanted to from surrounding guests and the guests on the floor above us. A huge minus concerned the pool. I was aware that a staff member was vacuuming the pool starting about 12 Noon. The staff member was at the other end of the pool by 12:30 so I went to the pool and sat by the pool with my travelling companion anticipating he was nearly finished. The staff member took an additional 40 minutes to complete the pool! Meanwhile, an inspection was being performed by a County health official I assume. I distinctly overheard her say that there seemed to be little or no chlorine in the pool. Instead of being informed of the situation, your staff left the pool area and later pasted a notice on the outside fence indicating the pool was closed for 'maintenance.' We weren't informed of the pool closure until my companion attempted to go into the pool about 15 minutes later. There are huge issues involved here: (1) Your pool should be vacuumed and any maintenance completed before the pool is open. To have to wait any amount of time for cleaning when the pool is supposed to be open and available is unacceptable. To not be informed that the pool is closed while we were sitting there borders on the criminal. The response from the clerk when I checked out was also unsatisfactory; saying you're sorry was not nearly the proper response. I would absolutely not consider booking a room at Smugglers Cove in the future.
Location
Was told room was free of pet hair/fur as I am allergic. Floor was filthy. Not sure if it was ever cleaned. My husband cleaned as best he could to remove pet hair and everything he used on the floor ended up black.
This was a last minute booking as we were tired from a day of driving and decided to stop and stay in the area. I was pleasantly surprised at how quaint this place was! The location was right on the water and the sunset views were amazing! The rooms were clean and above average. The little restaurant was another pleasant surprise! It was beautifully done and our dinner was great. The breakfast buffet was very nice as well! Customer service was outstanding! We will stay here again when in the area!
Our experience at Smuggler's Cove Inn could not have been better! The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Our room in the dog friendly building was large and clean with a beautiful view. They have kayaks and paddleboards available to use for free in their cove. What a treat!
We HIGHLY recommend Smuggler's Cove Inn!
We stayed at Smuggler’s Cove Inn in Boothbay, Maine to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect in every way. From the moment we arrived, the service from everyone we encountered was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuine.
The on-site restaurant was a highlight of our stay. Every meal—from the daily gourmet breakfast to the exceptional dinners—was beautifully prepared and delicious. The bar service was equally great, making it easy to relax and enjoy the views.
Our accommodations in The Pier building were second-to-none. Being right over the water, we loved sitting on our private balcony in the Adirondack chairs, sipping coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night while listening to the waves beneath us.
The inn also offers paddleboards and kayaks, which made our stay even more fun. I even paddled all the way over to Spruce Point one morning! We also ventured out for some incredible local experiences—taking the ferry to Monhegan Island, where we hiked, had lunch, and enjoyed a beer at the local brewery; exploring the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens to find all the trolls; and capping it off with a Skerryvore concert at the Boothbay Opera House.
We can’t recommend Smuggler’s Cove Inn highly enough—it’s a special place that made our milestone anniversary unforgettable. We’d go back again in a heartbeat!
Fridge not working , small bathroom very outdated, noisy heater on the wall above bed to access would need to stand on bed
The great and friendly staff. Laid back atmosphere with wonderful views.
Nothing! It was great!
It is a beautiful property overlooking the bay. The breakfast is very good. It is a beautiful drive to the property.
It is a little effort to our rooms.
This resort has a lot of potential but it is being poorly managed. Front office did not have regular hours and housekeeping was deficient. The restaurant closed unexpectedly and at one point while dining there it was apparent that the kitchen staff and servers were having a major disagreement.
The check in process was appropriate. The bartender who was “running the show” turned us off immediately when we arrived to the restaurant for our reservations. We weren’t greeted, when I got the bartenders attention to
Let her know we had a reservation her response was “well all these people are in front of you so you are going to wait”. We asked if we could get a cocktail while we wait and she responded “ya after I ask what these other people want” and never checked in with us while we waited. We would have gone to another place to eat but it was late, hence why we made reservations at the Inn’s restaurant. Food was good. We noted we were charged for an extra drink and when we brought that to the bartenders attention, she was once again rude. The room did not have any place to plug our phones in, so we had to unplug the lighting to plug our phones in. Not sure there was heat in the room we couldn’t find the thermostat, thank god I’m a post menopausal woman who likes it cold. I don’t believe we will go back as we saw other places when driving around we would like to visit/stay.
The staff is very accommodating. The breakfast was excellent.
Heat for rooms are provided through an ac unit. A bit loud and takes awhile to warm up.
we had a spectacular view from our room and deck of the bay. we were treated exceptionally well by roxie, aisa, and ken, all very helpful and courteous. our room was very tastefully furnished, and clean.
the weather could have b eenn warmer, but that's maine;
