Its location, and our room was beautiful and comfortable
Nothing apart from it was rather a long wait for breakfast after being asked to come down at a set time. The breakfast and previous evening meal were very good.
All of it. This 17th(?) century inn set in a quiet village in rural Wiltshire was a perfect overnight stay for us. The bar and restaurant were lively on our Sunday afternoon arrival and it seemed to be a popular meeting place with the local folk.
We heard lots of talk of farming! Our room was spacious and comfortable and the ample breakfast was cooked to order. Well worth another stay when we are next in the area.
Nothing
Lovely country Pub with Restaurant and rooms.
Our room was large and comfortable with a roll top bath and proper shower fitting in the bathroom.
The staff were very welcoming. All in all a great place to stay when touring in Wiltshire
Nice country pub
We were allocated one if the second floor bedrooms for our stay, but conditions were not great due to the current heat-wave. We were provided with a fan, but this did not have the capacity to cool the room sufficiently during the current extreme conditions - I don’t think this would have been an issue under “normal” conditions.
Lovely old pub , food was lovely . Staff were very attentive and friendly
It was a very hot weekend , no water in fridge (actually nothing in the fridge in room). There was a coffee pod machine but no coffee pods, no soya or almond of milk at breakfast . Only minor issues but when you pay £180 for a room you expect this…
Good base for exploring the southern Cotswolds. Really lovely traditional coaching inn , with lots of character. Room really nice, good size, very clean and comfortable, had everything you could need including a fridge and great wifi. Please note quite steep steps to rooms. Food was really good, choice of cooked breakfasts with hot and cold drinks, evening meals were also very nice, definitely recommend booking a table in advance. Staff were amazing, very polite and friendly, especially Shane who couldn’t help us enough. Will definitely stay again.
Nothing.
Lovely hosts, great service, very good Sunday lunch.
The Management and Staff at the Horse and Groom Inn were excellent and keen to make our stay there as comfortable as possible. Special mention must go to ‘Libby’ who went to great efforts to ensure our booking was cleared smoothly through Booking.com. The rooms were very clean, well prepared and the bed was very comfortable. All in all 10/10
Nothing
Great team, warm and friendly atmosphere. Simon and his crew look after everyone including the happy locals.
The food and staff were amazing
It was tired and not very clean
It was a convenient location to break our journey and to visit Malmesbury
The room needed some attention, the window on particular, clean the frame! The shower over the bath was ineffective. The menu was very ‘blokey! stodgy with few lighter options. The only fish was fried fish and chips.
The rooms were beautiful and the bathrooms were massive. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was spotlessly clean.
We didnt like being woken up to lawnmowers, strimmers and leaf blowers underneath the window at 7.30am. Waiting an hour until we were getting up for breakfast would be a good compromise.
The 'continental' breakfast seemed overpriced when it consisted of a packet of Alpen, a chocolate muffin, a packet of biscuits and a yoghurt. I think the biscuits could be swapped for a piece of fruit and the chocolate muffin could be a home made oat and raisin muffin.
The staff and location were perfect. Lots of character.
Shower took a long time to Heat but that's understandable in an old building.
Nice big room and comfy bed.
A bit out of town
