The property had a really easy check in procedure.
The room was clean and well equipped
The check in was easy and we had no problems with noise or anything else
Contactless check-in/check-out. No staff to interact with. Basic but comfortable room. Restaurant closed during our one night stay.
I have stayed here before, so kind of knew what to expect and the place didn't disappoint. I only have one comment on my stay there, this time. I checked in late as I'd been visiting relatives in Dunblane and spent the evening with them on both nights of my stay, so I arrived each night at circa 10:30pm. The room was cold and the heating was off. However, during the first night, I was woken by a noise in the room, which turned out to be the noise of the water pumping through the radiator, AT 3AM! Within a few minutes, the radiator was very hot, so I turned it off. The second night I turned the radiator off fully, before getting into bed. I suspect that the on/off heating clock may be out of kilter, explaning why the heating went off well before 10:30 and came on at 3am. Other than that, the stay was great, thank you, and I would recommend. Allan Dyer
Excellent facilities, very comfy bed, lovely setting
Shabby and unkempt looking. Checking in was too late and the staff were not helpful. The hotel needs some work
Not sure where to start really. I'm sure many other reviewers have mentioned the lack of staff. The whole place clearly is a ghost of something far grander that used to exist. According to some locals we spoke to, in it's heyday Old Churches was a great hotel, had a lovely restaurant and was one of the town's cornerstones. This might be why is still enjoys a high rating on many sites.
But for whatever reason (COVID maybe), the place has become a shell of whatever former self it enjoyed. It is all self check-in/out, there's no front desk. Which certainly wasn't the worst aspect of our stay, but added to the place's eary feel. The fact there are still so many signs for things that no longer exist (restaurant, reception, even a gym!) made the place seem like some old abandoned building.
However, as I said, this wasn't the worst part. The hotel is very very dated. The room we had was one of the most tired and grotty I've stayed in, if not the worst. And it was quite dirty. A quick look under the bed, or behind a piece of furniture showed the room desperately needed a deep clean. And don't get me started on how uncomfortable the bed was.
Overally the only enjoyable aspect of the hotel was the location. It is right in the centre of town and has a lovely view of the cathedral across the road.

Great location in Dunblane near to rail station. Street parking right outside hotel door. Really easy check in and departure. Large comfortable room, clean and well maintained. Excellent value.
Very nice place.
This was a cute little place across the street from a church. I would have liked fans to circulate air, but otherwise we were good
Needs some TLC
I stay here a lot, very central for restaurants public transport.
I like having no contact with staff as your sent room no and key us waiting for you when you go in to room,I love the size of their towels,no complimentary shampoo etc, room on the cold side for summer,I’m happy to recommend and il stay again
This was good for us as a base and a comfortable and clean place to stay. The room was that just a room with a bathroom. Had twin beds rather than a double but didnt matter, beds were comfy enough but no space to move and no chest of drawers or wardrobe. This place was cheapest we could find for a gig nearby and seemed there was a few others staying doing the same. Shower was fab but some mould in shower and roof. Free parking nearby and outside( it was full when we arrived) and a few pubs/cafes within 5 mins. Train station 5 minute walk so ideal for getting about. Beech tree cafe was great for food and breakfast next day. Its not luxury but not basic(premier inn) so i would stay for a pitstop but not for romantic break or longer break.
Positive
Location with Cathedral View
Free parking close by
Dunblane is great
Negatives
Would not stay again for a number of reasons:
Not clean
Tired rooms with mould on shower roof, cobwebs, no air conditioning, not cleaned to appropriate standard, general scapes and marks both in room and in communal areas.
No staff appear to be on duty and no reception area.
We were very impressed.
Missed having a breakfast. A pity about the UHT milk. Very anonymous - not even a receptionist.
But otherwise comfortable and clean.
Great property for our quick overnight before heading North after our flight to Glasgow
No service or assistance. Shower drain blocked, bathroom floor uneven and slippery when wet.
Bed comfortably room adequate
Not told room was up marrow stairs, not suitable bc for the elderly.
Lovely old house. Room comfortable. No staff on site. Checkin easy though and instructions sent in timely fashion
