Luxury stay near Chinese wall
Pros:

Both the location and the hotel are beautiful. Our room felt like an apartment. The staff was incredibly helpful. We also really enjoyed the breakfast options.

Cons:

Maybe it was during off season but in the evening the restaurant and bar were closed

Mediocre and manager's attitude when handling simple request is disappointing. Sours the experience.
Pros:

Breakfast spread was good. Concierge was very helpful

Cons:

Toilet drainage is poor, causing pooling of water that lasts for hours after shower. The process of getting more moisturiser is disappointing. We had to call front desk and meet their manager who assumed that we are requesting extra to bring home/sell without understanding our plight of being unaccustomed to the dry Beijing air. Recommend for her to get customer service retraining. This is not the kind of standard I expect from paying 3000+RMB per night for a few nights. Maybe look at Waldorf Astoria's impeccable service to better yourself and your work process.

What a peaceful place, you are really treated like royalty! Was a bit difficult getting hold of the hotel to make a booking. I couldn't do it on their website & didn't get responses from their email but the hotel confirmed everything through Expedia which was great. The buffets are amazing!! Really awesome place.

Wonder autumn stay at Yanqi Lake
Pros:

This hotel is beautifully located right by the Yanqi lake on a access restricted peninsula. Neighbouring the hotel is the famous convention venue for the belt road forum as well as for APEC meetings. The hotel grounds are perfectly groomed and there is even a large pagoda on the site plus several nice walking paths.
The hotel is mostly geared towards business and conventions guests and is therefore rather calm and serene. The service is impeccable and most of the staff understands some English as well.
Very recommended as a base for visiting the Great Wall or just to hike in the wonderful nature that surrounds the lake.

Newly renovated Boutique Hotel at heart of town
Pros:

Location of the hotel is unbeatable, right at heart of city. a 24 hours supermarket next door and easy access to shopping & restaurants in Boston. within walking distance to the famous Boylston Street & Newberry Street. Bed is very comfortable. Bathroom a little small.
