Elaine at the front desk explained everything clearly & was very nice, and professional. It was a perfect greeting. The morning concierge was absolutely fantastic as well. The restaurant & the crowd best were both also perfectly amazing!!
The beds were very uncomfortable, it was
hard and you could feel the springs. Aside from that everything was amazing.
Great location. Bed was rock hard. Need to replace/upgrade the A/C unit. Non-smoking, yet our hall reeked of weed.
Great location and comfortable bed! The staff was exceptional and the lobby decor was beautiful.
L’emplacement
L’état général de l’hôtel n’est pas à la hauteur des prix pratiqués
This hotel has completely changed. Do not stay here. The service is terrible and the room is even worse. When I checked in they told me that housekeeping comes every 3 days. The front door is broken. There is a black curtain hanging over the restaurant doors (restaurant to left of lobby closed.) I will show you photos of the room. Armoire with no doors, decorated with a license plate, no shower gel, bug running across my bed. I checked in late and immediately went to speak with a manager. When I spoke to the front desk girl she nodded and said , “She’s heard my comments before.” She said the manager was in the building and she’d call her. She did and the manager said she couldn’t speak to me because she was in a family meeting (11 pm at night). She said she’d get back to me the next day and never did.
Unfortunately the Landmark is is a dated, poorly served hotel. The location is terrific, but the vibe still feels like the covid times, no housekeeping to speak of, including poor turnover between rooms. We arrived at the Pentouse suite without proper towels, stale popcorn on the carpet from the prior guests, and sticky countertops, they don't do ANY housekeeping - a refresh after 3 nights where they give you more towels and empty the trash, and a cleaning, by request after 5 nights, but trust me, you probably don't need 5 nights there. Unlike all other yoopers we met, the staff could care less. The restaurants are open rarely, and the bar is open nightly but is loud, crowded and makes the halls and elevators smell like dive bar stale beer. This must have been a great hotel in its hay day but is in dire need of a makeover and services. They are building a new hilton across the street which is where we'll stay next time, although it pains us to not support local businesses.
We recently stayed four nights at the Landmark Inn for our daughter's wedding, which was also held at the hotel. Overall, there was a lot to love about our experience, but unfortunately there was one interaction that left us very disappointed.
The wedding itself was wonderful. The Sky Room was a lovely setting for our daughter's small ceremony of about 50 guests, and The Parlour worked beautifully for the reception. The food was excellent, and the staff working the wedding and reception were amazing. They helped make a very special day for our family even better, and we are very grateful for that.
Our room and the historic atmosphere of the hotel were also enjoyable, and we loved being able to stay right in downtown Marquette.
We did have some frustration with parking when we arrived. There were multiple events happening at the hotel, and the lot was full. We were told we would need to look for parking on the surrounding streets. For a four night stay that cost us approximately $2,200, I was disappointed that there was not a better parking solution for hotel guests. We eventually parked at a nearby church and moved our vehicle back to the hotel later that night.
Unfortunately, our biggest disappointment happened after the wedding reception.
Our reception ended at 11 p.m., and we were directed to the Northland Gastropub if we wanted to continue visiting. We were told that the pub was open and serving until midnight. We thought this would be a nice opportunity for our family to sit together, have a drink, and unwind after a long day.
I arrived first with three family members. The chairs were already up on the tables, but there was room at the bar. I sat down, put my credit card on the bar, ordered a drink, and told the bartender that I would be paying for the drinks for the family members who were joining us.
His response was that he was absolutely not serving "a bunch of drunks from next door."
I was stunned.
I explained that we were family coming from the wedding reception, that our group ranged from approximately their late 30s through their 60s, and that no one was drunk. He still refused. I told him that I no longer wanted my drink and left.
My daughter, who was the bride, later went in to ask what had happened. She was told that we would not be served because I had "caused a scene." The three family members who were standing with me during the entire interaction confirmed to her that no scene had occurred.
That was an upsetting way to end what had otherwise been a wonderful wedding day, especially after we had been specifically directed to the pub by hotel staff.
We ended up gathering in the bridal suite with snacks and soft drinks from our rooms and enjoyed the rest of the evening together there.
I debated whether to include this in my review because so many aspects of our stay and wedding experience were very good. However, I believe hotel management should be aware of what happened. We were not asking for special treatment or for the pub to remain open late. We simply went where we had been told to go during the establishment's stated serving hours and expected to be treated respectfully.
I want to emphasize again that the staff involved with our daughter's wedding and reception were wonderful. They deserve recognition for helping make the day so special.
I just wish our final interaction at the Northland Gastropub had reflected the same hospitality we experienced from the rest of the Landmark Inn team.
front desk staff were AMAZING!
cleanliness with details of the room could be better - dust on heaters pictures, sand in the corner of the bathroom
Location. Also upstairs bar was nice.
Pricey
Location
No housekeeping service without request
No breakfast
Well for a Historic Hotel billed as an elegant comfortable and even friendly hotel. I would say they missed the mark for our stay. We arrived and there was a sign on the desk saying we’ll be right back. Well 10 minutes later someone appeared from the back area and checked us in. During the check in process I was informed we do not offer housekeeping services while you stay. The front doors didn’t have a way to mechanically open them so we had to navigate the luggage cart through by manually holding doors etc. The front desk staff did not engage when we walked through the lobby as we came and went, not once. The room was of a decent size but the hard surface floors, especially the bathroom, were filthy and needed a good cleaning.
Breakfast was minimal
The rooms needed a rug
Rooms were more spacious than expected. The entrance is hard to navigate and the accessible door was broken. Could use some cleaning in the public spaces. Nice bar on the main level and a second bar with a view on the 6th floor. Staff was nice.
Beautiful room, wonderful time, incredible staff! Walking distance to everything.
