Decent breakfast included and Kenneth made some great egg dishes like the Quiche etc so that was a great add on!
The reception staff was kind and helpful. Brad who ran the shuttle service was a star and probably the best amenity that this hotel offers compared to any other is the free shuttle service within a 3 mile radius - great for guests coming in for events without a car! Brad also helped me bring a bag in to the conference at Duke I was attending as I had forgotten it at the hotel.
Comfortable and spacious rooms. Good wifi. Nice and clean! Only issue was there is only one elevator so sometimes during busy hours there can be a wait! Location is not central central but a 10-20 min walk to downtown central Central Area!
Wonderful breakfast included and clean, nice rooms. Many thanks to Ken who made more waffle mix when we were almost out and was so kind and helpful.
Love it here!
KW outdid himself with the phenomenal breakfast. His warm and welcoming personality was the icing on the cake.
Looking forward to our next visit and hope to see KW again.
Ken was so hopeful with breakfast and it was a wonderful experience. It was delicious and the hotel was clean and welcoming.
I had a wonderful stay at the Residence Inn. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly warm, hospitable, and attentive. The hotel was exceptionally clean, every need was met, and throughout my stay I could tell that the people who work here genuinely care about what they do and about the experience of their guests.
Breakfast was especially delightful and became one of the highlights of my stay. More than anything, I appreciated the hospitality of the entire staff. Being away from home can sometimes feel impersonal, but everyone here went above and beyond to create a welcoming and comfortable environment that truly made me feel cared for.
I will definitely stay here again whenever I am in Durham, and I would gladly recommend this Residence Inn to others. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay such a positive experience!
definitely a business hotel that being said the staff from Ken (chef) to Kayla/Brad (shuttle) are very hospitable. Lowkey 5 star staff for a business hotel. Variety each day for breakfast and the Shuttle service is flexible/easy to use & the folks driving are accommodating and friendly as ever
Ken is awesome! He hosts a great breakfast.
When my husband underwent surgery for a liver transplant we discovered the Residence Inn-McPherson-Duke in Durham for an extended stay to be near Duke Hospital. It’s great that they have a shuttle service to go to appointments. Ken, the chef does an excellent job with a wonderful breakfast buffet. Deasia has been helpful as well at the front desk and her attitude and bright disposition makes one feel part of a family. In fact all of the staff are friendly and accommodating. I would recommend the Residence Inn for anyone needing comfortable accommodations near Duke Hospital!
My stay thus far has been great. The entire staff has been nothing short of accommodating and gracious. Special mention to Ken in the kitchen for consistent friendly and professional service!
Kayla is such a nice and friendly person. She had everyone laughing and joking on our drive to Duke.
Great driver. Very friendly.
Great place to stay after medical treatment at Duke. Comfortable rooms and lots of amenities on-site. Best feature, though, is their staff! Everyone is so helpful and pleasant. Front desk receptionists took care of every request with a smile. Ken cooked up a wonderful buffet breakfast each day and greeted everyone with a smile. His crustless quiche was delicious! Will stay here again without hesitation.
Everyone was really nice! Buffet was great
The death of this hotel was very friendly.Deniasia was really helpful when I checked in late at night. The rooms were very nice and new. Great location if you’re going to the university.
There was hardly anyone working and it was difficult to get in touch with the front desk. Gave us a queen when we reserved a king and tried to argue that it was a king. Also gave us a pack and play, not a crib, that was very dirty with just a hotel sheet folded in the bottom.
We stayed here for a few days last month while my son attended a camp at Duke. Our room was spacious and clean. The parking situation can be difficult depending on what time you arrive. There were no garage spots or lot spots so we just parked across the street, it seems they are doing contruction to make that a larger lot. Breakfast ends at 9am which would be great to extend till 10. All the hotel employees we encountered were extremely friendly. If you are a light sleeper they mention having sound machines due to the train noise. It didn't really bother us. We were able to walk to quite a few restaurants in the area that were great. All in all I would choose this spot again.
Most hotels train their staff in hospitality. The Residence Inn Durham appears to be the product of an accidental registration for the "open hostility" seminar and a game-time decision to fully commit to the curriculum. The staff here have a shocking commitment to discourtesy and everyone we encountered seemed genuinely offended by the presence of guests.
The room itself had the exhausted ambiance of a regional airport lounge. Every surface suggested a long-standing disagreement with disinfectant and carpets appeared to have absorbed several economic downturns. The “kitchen” featured the fun and exciting challenge of discovering which appliances/utensils still qualified as functional. Most did not.
If you’ve ever wondered what the complete philosophical rejection of housekeeping looks like, look no further than this hotel. Management cites “COVID-19” as their justification for not cleaning rooms. While I understand that some hotels offer the option (keyword OPTION!) to forgo daily cleaning services during longer stays, invoking pandemic protocol to avoid replacing towels for 4+ days in 2026 is quite bold.
The parking situation deserves academic study. You pay for parking, but not in the charmingly old-fashioned sense where your car remains near the hotel. Instead, the hotel invites you to on an odyssey to their auxiliary lot. Despite what they may tell you it is not close or convenient, particularly in the rain.
In fairness, the hotel did succeed in one respect: it inspired immediate brand loyalty to every competing property within The Triangle.
I had a wonderful experience here, even though it was only for a day. Tiffani at the front desk made the experience well worth it. She was very informative and offered excellent customer service.
