This historic Inn is lovely, very well appointed & restored accommodations. Excellent service, beautiful upgrade to the property a few years ago. It’s a really quirky and interesting little town with areas of interest to explore, if you stay here, definitely take the time to walk across the bridge it’s a beautiful view.
That being said there aren’t really any restaurant options that then other than the hotel but they’re closed during the week in the off-season. The town itself is really unusual and odd but if you’re up here to see the redwoods or drive the avenue it’s a nice place to stay.
Scotia Lodge is a beautiful hotel with fun details in the lobby and rooms!
Very well appointed hotel, bespoke & to the untrained eye pretty consistently mid-century modern in appearance ( maybe except for the weird ornate wardrobe ) furniture, great staff, wished the rooms including the bathroom had more surfaces, maybe a larger desk. The shared spaces are immaculate, The bath faucet would direct at most 10% of the otherwise great temp and pressure water to the shower head.
there are no elevators. The women at the front desk told us we would have to carry our suitcases up the 2+ flights of stairs. No air conditioning and the room was boiling hot when we entered. Had to call to find out there was a fan in the closet. Morning desk clerk was very helpful though.
The way the rooms were updated they were great and I will stay there again. The next time we visit the Red Woods.
Lovely Arts & Crafts Hotel!
We loved our time here. We loved the historic vibes and the mid century modern aesthetic that was nice compliment to the craftsman building. We were welcomed with a drink at check-in and also had some complimentary beverages in the fridge in the room. Beds were comfy. showers were excellent with serious water pressure. Something to change? I would work on a better way to filter/clean out the provided pour over coffee (which was local and terrific). Drinks at the onsite bar were great. Would we stay here again? Absolutely, we're looking forward to our next visit.
Such a cool lodge and history. Kenny checked us in and made us feel right at home.
The building is beautiful and staff are friendly and accommodating. Aside from the complimentary morning muffins, heads up the food is liquor-store microwave quality. I mean no disrespect to staff just warning others. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. If they offer a breakfast menu then they should have the ingredients for all that is offered.
I LOVED the Scotia Lodge, beautiful, clean, comfortable, friendly staff. The town feels ‘odd’-abandoned. It is an old “company town” with limited residents, services. The scenery is beautiful there ARE bigger cities nearby. If you are looking for some peaceful, relaxation this is your place.
Love the uniqueness & history of the property!
The room was large and amazing!
My only complaint, unfortunately they were short staffed & not any dining options at the time. But would stay here again.
The Scotia Inn was beautiful. Within driving distance of some nice spots to visit like the Avenue of the Giants and down the street was a few really good eating spots. There is a convenience store across the street that was really convenient too. We also ordered some local pizza (at the suggestion of a ln inn staff) and hanging around the Inn for the afternoon was quiet and a good vibe. Definitely recommend! Only "complaint" I'd have was no AC but also no screens in the windows. We're not from Cali so maybe that's normal, but we never felt comfortable leaving the windows open at night. Fortunately the room would cool down enough and they provide a fan.
This place is a little gem. We took longer on the road than expected, so didn't arrive til close to 10pm. Not sure if this is typical hours for the front desk worker, but she called me right as we were pulling in to make sure we were coming. She greeted us with 2 spirits and a smile! Very friendly and helpful. We didn't realize there wouldn't be air conditioning, but the large fan in the closet got us thru the night, and then we were a little chilly in the morning! We were also pleasantly surprised by the downstairs common area where we had our choice of many community books and board games, and ordered what turned out to be a really yummy breakfast! Can't remember the item name, but it was a stuffed breakfast biscuit that was so delicious! We played some Battleship while we had breakfast. We were on a very long road trip, so just stayed one night. I will point out, there is no elevator - so if you're like us and had 3 large bags, you'll have to carry them upstairs! Wasn't that big of a deal, as we are healthy:) But just letting other travelers know. Great place to stay, really happy with how it turned out1
very unique place to stay.
Beautiful room, nice accommodations. Only downside was we relied on the breakfast and there was none available.
Gorgeous hotel!!! The front desk staff were excellent and the lobby area was beautiful, the restaurant was closed but the “small bites” offered by the front desk were delicious and very reasonably priced. The room was very clean.
The only thing was that *every* flat surface in the rooms is wood….the nightstands, tables, console under the TV, floor…and sometimes drinks and ice buckets sweat, and there are no coasters or anything so there’s nowhere to set drinks that you don’t worry about damaging the beautiful wood accents. But other than that minor thing, highly recommend and would absolutely stay there again.
Very accommodating, flexible and nice! Vast rooms and kindly offered to have an air mattress prepared for our daughter. They also showed great flexibility when we couldn’t make our initial reservation. Very nice people and unique, historic building.
Perfect home base for a redwoods adventure
This was a very unique and interesting hotel with great history and ambiance. The hotel is easy access and close to Avenue of Giants and Eureka. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. This is a very cool experience and my family and I enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay.
