The Palms Hotel Fire Island

We held our wedding at the palms hotel this October. And all I can say is that it was PERFECT!
Ceremony on the Bay Beach, Cocktail Hour in the Courtyard and Reception back on the Bay Beach, with after party at the Dive. Thanks to the attentive staff: Kerry, CJ, Rich, Jamel, Joey, Carleen and so many others, our vision was brought to life! All the details they provided, from the romantic beach setting and decor, to the decked out golf cart, to the amazing suite for us and rooms for our guests, and of course the food and cocktails, which everyone is still raving about; our expectations were surpassed in every way imaginable.

Thank you everyone for helping to create such fantastic memories. We enjoyed every aspect of our wedding weekend and you are ALL Rock Stars! Cant wait to see you next season!

We booked a last-minute anniversary/family getaway to Fire Island for a long weekend in early October, and we are so glad we chose The Palms Hotel!

From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. A big thank you to Joe, his wife, and CJ, who went out of their way to make sure our stay was comfortable and seamless. Their hospitality made a great trip even better.

The location is ideal — just a short walk from the ferry, restaurants, shops, and the bay. The beach was also very accessible, and the staff made it extra convenient by preparing a wagon for us daily with chairs, towels, an umbrella, and cold water — such a thoughtful and appreciated touch.

We especially loved starting our mornings with a ride around the island on the complimentary bikes provided by the hotel. The grounds were beautiful, the atmosphere was relaxed and family-friendly, and our suite was both spacious and cozy. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the property was clean and well-maintained throughout.

This trip was exactly what we needed — a peaceful, easy, and fun escape. We’re already looking forward to our next stay at The Palms!

This was our third time staying at the Palm Hotel. We will not stay anywhere else on Ocean Beach. First and foremost, the hospitality is top notch. The staff could not be nicer and more inviting. After a short ferry ride you feel like you’re on vacation immediately upon arrival. They have a text message service so you can easily communicate with the staff about meeting you at the ferry for assistance with your bags or any questions you may have.

There are several locations depending on your requirements and all are close to the ferry , town and beach. The rooms are clean and updated. A wagon, beach towels, beach umbrellas, beach chairs and bottled water as well as bicycles are available free of charge. Included breakfasts and discounts to local stores/eateries are added bonuses. There is also a private beach for guests to enjoy.

A review would not be complete without mentioning Joe, one of the owners of the Palms. He has made our stays so much better and has gone out of his way to be accommodating. For example , last summer I needed to cut our reservation short at the last minute due to an unexpected surgery, he was willing to quickly give us a credit towards a future stay. His first priority is to make his guests feel welcome and relaxed.

I cannot say enough good things about every aspect of the Palms Hotel. Staying here on your trip to Ocean Beach will be an added bonus all around.

Great room on the bay. Friendly attentive staff. Will be back. At the East end of Bay Walk so it is quiet but a 2 minute walk to the main strip.

We come here every summer for a weekend and it’s always a great time. Clean, fresh hotel, great amenities like bikes, complementary breakfast, perfect location, awesome customer service etc. Highly recommend for your next weekend getaway.

In a nutshell, you get what you pay for. The hotel was just okay. On the plus side, they have all the things you need to enjoy the beach and rental was seamless (chairs, umbrellas, wagons, towels etc). Cookies and champagne (complementary) each day was a nice surprise. On the downside, walls are paper thin and quiet hours were not well enforced. Because the doors are old, you have to pull them shut super hard to close them and we were repeatedly jerking awake from hearing doors slam. Housekeeping also left our door ajar day one, assuming because they did not shut it hard enough, which left us feeling a little unsafe. Luckily nothing went missing because the room was open at least three hours. The hotel had lots of mosquitos and our legs look like we went camping. We got smarter at the end of the stay and started shoving towels under the doors to prevent all the mosquitoes from coming in. The rooms were not very well cleaned, we noticed a lot of sand in the sheets the day we arrived. The complementary breakfast was at a sports bar a few blocks away and consisted of cold pancakes and bagels. The private beach area was also a few blocks away and was a few couches in front of the marina (no ability to get into the water). It smelled bad and was poorly maintained so we spent no time there. The hotel was also having a sewage issue so the entire back patio was closed the whole weekend and the first floor smelled really foul.

I cannot thank the staff and managers enough for how amazing and clean this hotel was. We visited Fire Island for the first time over Labor Day weekend, and they made it 100% worthwhile. Even though we didn’t stay a full 2 nights, we were given 50% off our second night since we had to leave early for school the next day—a gesture we really appreciated.

From start to finish, the service was outstanding. Paul met us at the ferry with a cart to help carry our belongings, had our rooms ready early so we could enjoy the beach all day Saturday, and even set us up with chairs, umbrellas, and towels on a wagon. His work ethic and professionalism truly stood out—early the next morning I saw him cleaning windows and preparing the grounds before most guests were awake. It’s rare to see that kind of dedication, and it left a lasting impression.

We stayed in the Coral Suite, which was perfect for our group of nine—comfortable, spacious, and homey. While we enjoyed a complimentary breakfast at CJ’s restaurant, our room was cleaned and refreshed with fresh towels, making it so easy to start our day. Later, we requested bikes for the kids and adults, and both Paul and CJ went above and beyond to accommodate us. CJ especially made my 9-year-old feel included by kindly encouraging him to ride a smaller bike with training wheels, turning what could’ve been a disappointment into a highlight of the trip.

Another unique touch was the daily 2–4 PM champagne and freshly baked cookies—such a charming detail that set this hotel apart. Every request, from more beach towels to luggage help at checkout, was met with a smile and genuine care.

I would like to sincerely thank all the staff and managers for their hard work and effort in making us feel like family. Our four kids had a blast, the adults felt completely taken care of, and we left with memories we’ll cherish. We will definitely be coming back every year!

My friend and I stayed at The Palms for two nights; last Sunday and Monday night. We had a wonderful time. It was so relaxing. The weather couldn’t have been better. We came at a great time. It was the perfect getaway. The room was very quiet, clean, comfortable and a convenient spot to all. We were so excited to have the complimentary champagne and chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon - which was absolutely delicious! Our stay included a nice, hot breakfast. We loved Pat at the front desk. She was so friendly and very accommodating. Also, the students that worked there were so kind and helpful. The owners were so nice and took great care of us to make sure our stay went smoothly. They did a great job making accommodations for us. We had such a great, fun and lovely time. We will definitely be back next year!

The staff are so caring, considerate and ALWAYS SO WILLING TO HELP MAKE YOUR STAY AND EXPERIENCE THE BEST EVER! CJ was ESPECIALLY AMAZING! Mira even went to grab a bag we forgot at Rachel’s for us and put it in our room since we were at Atlantique when we realized we forgot it. SUCH EXCELLENT CARE AND SERVICE!

Outside bay area was nice but the service was terrible. To start we checked in at 11 on Friday, was told we would get a text when the room was ready and we did not. Ended up getting our room keys at 6pm if it wasn't for us calling and asking. The next morning we asked for new towels and nothing was brought to our room. Sand everywhere on the floor when we first got in. The building seems old and simply not kept nice. 2 beds were squeezed in a room thats a size that fits 1. Not a great experience and it was a pricy stay so was expecting more than what we got.

We rented a suite and it was like renting a house with VIP service. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

This was a surprise for my husband’s 60th birthday. I booked one of the cottages for a total of 5 couples for 2 nights. It could not have been better.
Joe was wonderful with every question I had. He also helped arrange a catered dinner for Saturday evening in the courtyard.
The staff could not have been more accommodating. It was a truly wonderful experience and we and our friends hope to do another weekend together in the future

We recently stayed at The Palms on Fire Island with six girlfriends to celebrate our 50th birthdays, and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond — genuinely attentive, friendly, and ready to make our stay special.

The rooms were incredibly spacious, spotless, and beautifully maintained. Every detail felt thoughtful, and the 2 PM toast and cookies quickly became one of our favorite daily traditions. It was such a charming touch that made us feel instantly at home.

The amenities made enjoying the beach effortless — everything we needed was right at our fingertips. And with shops and restaurants just steps away, we were able to explore and indulge without ever worrying about transportation.

Our stay was relaxing, fun, and full of wonderful memories. The Palms is truly a gem, and we’re already talking about coming back. Highly recommended for anyone looking to celebrate, recharge, and enjoy the best of Fire Island!

Was an average stay we had some problems

We had an incredible time staying at the Palms! Joe, the owner, and all of his staff went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. Our beautiful suite, the Sea Breeze, was huge and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay! I cannot say how much we enjoyed our stay there and how much we appreciate Joe and his amazing staff!

Great amenities, staff was friendly and room was clean

Stayed in a bay view efficiency. The kitchenette had everything we needed (plates, bowls, cups, wine glasses, etc.). Staff were incredibly helpful and kind, carrying and storing our luggage and always offering us more water to drink. They had quality beach gear and wagons to carry it in. The private beach was on the bay side, right outside our room. The staff brought us delicious cocktails and offered us more towels and water.

Will definitely come back!
