A fine location
The elevator broke down, and it took over two days to fix it. Since it was the only customer elevator and there wasn’t much urgency to repair it, this incident revealed a lot about the management culture.
Comfortable, clean, spacious room! All in room amenities was available. Robes were provided, shower was powerful, and clean!
The hotel staff is great! The atmosphere was nice. The rooftop, outside, and race cars on the road below can get noisy until about 2:30 a.m.
The Durham is our favorite Triangle area spot for a quick getaway! Our anniversary overnight was extra special with each top notch Durham Hotel staff making it a great stay. Every detail was cared for, the MCM vibes just transport you to another time and place, well thought out room features and surprises (the local snack options in the room are a delight, cozy robes and fabulous local skin/beauty products !)
The Durham is a special place and keeps earning our return visits with each stay.
And be sure not to miss the rooftop special events like Thursday night jazz!
Hotel is in a good location, but nothing special. Directions to hotel not great. No parking, so need to park in sketchy lot down the street. Rooms are just ok. We stayed here as close to a concert venue. I think cost in the upper $200’s, which is too much for this hotel. Breakfast was pretty good. Will i stay here again? Probably not.
Quality of rooms, parking, cost.
This hotel is in a great location and you can walk to restaurants. But, it is old and has very narrow hallways with stained carpet. The rooms are small with high windows. Our view was a concrete wall several feet away. There was not even a comfortable chair to sit in. Sound carries between rooms and from the hall I would not stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Location - great and walkable to so many shops and restaurants
Atmosphere - very chic and welcoming/cozy.
Rooms - cute, well maintained and clean! One of my friends did have an issue with their water pressure in the shower.
Staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
Rooftop was very nice.
Breakfast is tasty, and they were good at accommodating allergies.
Service was great!
This is a wonderful hotel- friendly and with retro charm. Fantastic location and it ha a beautiful lobby/cafe. The free coffee in the lobby in early morning is the best I’ve ever had in a hotel!
Very nice mid-century modern hotel! Super clean and comfortable room. Loved the Rooftop bar. Location was perfect for me within walking distance to my event. I will return.
We stayed for two nights at a cost of almost $1,200 dollars. There was a rooftop bar with very loud music making it impossible to sleep. Walls are thin, so we also had problems with noise from neighbors. Breakfast was not included and we were pushed out before we could finish to free up space for reserved brunch tables. Overall, I would avoid this hotel.
Stylish and well located hotel. Spacious and fully stocked rooms, excellent food service. Staff helpful and pleasant. The best choice for downtown Durham!
Great location, service and a nice clean, quiet and large room. Price was reasonable for what we got. Loved our stay! We will stay there if we ever get back to Durham again.
What a great hotel! The rooms are simple but well designed, the bed is very comfortable, and the lobby coffee and food offerings are unbelievably good, esp the guacamole toast.Staff is personable and helpful. Everything works. Cheers!
The hotel is well appointed—from the downstairs restaurant all the way to the rooftop bar. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. And the Counter Culture coffee delivered to the room was a very nice touch. But ultimately it was the friendliness of an evidently well trained staff that made my experience unique. This human element is what will bring me back to The Durham.
Really cool place; detail inside and outside were photo-worthy. Rooftop bar wasn't open but I hear it's great -- staff was helpful too!
Loved the common spaces, but they had both the coffee shop bar and the rooftop bar closed for private events on the same night.
Lack of parking, lack of valet. Thin walls- someone beside us had an alarm that went off for over 20 minutes at 6 AM. Staff was unconcerned.
There was a coffee maker but no coffee in the room and the coffee shop doesn’t open until 7:30AM.
There was one elevator for the whole hotel. Elevator were sticky with someone’s spilled drink. The phone in the room wouldn’t call the front desk.
I don't normally get to stay at hotels this nice, but it was being paid for by an organization that I have recently joined. It's 5-star service. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. Amenities are abundant and quality. Beds are comfortable. There are both a downstairs and rooftop restaurants. It's right in downtown Durham, so it's walkable to a lot of different things, and the public parking garage is diagonally across the street.
Being downtown, I did hear the garbage truck in the morning, but I was already awake.
Our King room was a converted closet or office space on the second floor behind the equipment room. Very dark... a little dank... shower valve not functioning well... bad pillows... just not worth the price. Location great. People super nice (but powerless to fix any issue). I'd stay away.
