Wonderful setting in a forest with birds and wildlife. Our primary disappointment was the lack of any food service on the property.
We can’t comment a lot because we arrived late and left early for Corcovado. My Mom had an uneasy feeling about the place. The check in was easy and there was someone available to open the gate early when we left at 5am.
Chosa el Manglar was the perfect spot for our brief visit to Puerto Jimenez. It is a short walk from the airport, has beautiful grounds, and is centrally located. The owners took great care of us, helping us out with some local logistics.
Wonderful family establishment, speaks fluent English and Spanish
Magnificent. Exactly the experience we were hoping for when we booked!
Convenient - checked tide tables and walked to gulf to swim in the mornings. Then walked to lunch at many restaurants downtown, walked to grocery store, so nice to get out and enjoy the weather!! Took 2 tours, found the fish pond, sat bu fire, talked to other travelers and owner, sat out on our colorful front porch, laidback vacation
Great stay at this property. Very handy for airport as literally 200 yards away. Airport only for day flights/light planes so noise not an issue.Close to centre and beaches. Hosts activities and suggest you book before arriving as very popular in February. Checked me in early and plenty of parking. Plenty of green in grounds and suspect looks very different in rainy season. Room basic and everything worked including a/c. Plenty of space outside the you can room I booked. Easy place to socialise with fellow guests although there seemed to be a lot of people working on their laptops!
The grounds were lovely and the people were nice but the air conditioner went off in the middle of the night both nights we were there. We would wake up, hot and it was hard to sleep. It is very hot in Costa Rica in February. Both mornings we had to hunt down someone to turn it back on. They said it was the breaker switch but both times the rest of the electricity was on. It was uncomfortable and very annoying.
I stayed in cabin #9 with no WiFi. Every time I need internet, I should go to reception area. To eat, I should go to town. Did not see as much wildlife on property as I expected, based on reviews.
I've been here twice in the last year. If you like nature, you will not find a better spot to stay. Family run and super friendly. Can't wait to go back !!
I don’t have words in order to describe it. Do not believe pictures, check yourself first before booking.
The staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming! I’d say the atmosphere was the best part! Leaving a no so great review for a few reasons: The apartment was advertised to sleep 6, but there were no bed linens for the futons. There was plumbing issues. Not hot water (which isn’t a huge deal but if you’re paying 175$ a night it would be nice). And last, the coffee maker was molded out and generally all the dishes were not completely clean. To be clear, I think it is a great place, I was just very disappointed in what I got for the money.
We loved the setting. Nice little cabin in the jungle!
Good location good price, monkeys at grounds. Simple but great start for Corcovado adventure
We had an excellent stay at La Choza de Mangler. Nice cabin...beautiful jungle setting. Wildlife right at your door!
It's nice and quite, staff is cool, they only serve coffee in the morning but, there is a kitchen and refrigerator for guests also there is a pin pon table.
The hotel grounds were awesome, monkeys and macaws everyday, even a toucan or two. The people were very good to me and helped where they could. Would happily go back.
Beautiful hostel on the edge of Corcovado National Park in Puerto Jimenez. I loved hanging out in the covered courtyard. I was greeted on my arrival with several pairs of scarlet macaws in the trees. I loved hanging out in the beautiful covered courtyard area.
I stayed three nights and look forward to returning. The grounds are lovely and brimming with nature's wonder. The kitchen facilities looked very good. Nice comfortable lobby. Good laundry service across the street.
First night we paid 80$ US to the young mens at the reception on December 3, 2016. The hotel was empty. We came back the night after and booked on the net and we paid 39,99$ US!! Do I trust the staff?
No hot water, and the door lock didn't worked the first night.
Rooms are really clean with air conditioning.
The place is magic, beautiful, many animals and birds.
Highly recommended you to book on the web.
