Extremely poor service of the guests. They were not at all accommodating when asked for help. To do a small bag of laundry they wanted about $100 usd. $50 usd to use the onsen
, $60 usd for breakfast, etc.

Suiran is a comfortable resort like hotel in the pristine Arashiyama neighborhood of Kyoto. The Hozugawa riverfront, old bridge and mountains around Suiran provide an exclusive atmosphere while the traditional layout & architecture of the property ensure that guests feel a sense of exclusivity away from the crowds of Kyoto. There are plenty of top attractions within a short walking distance while the other Kyoto attractions are easily accessible by cab. Breakfast is wonderful in a scenic restaurant overlooking a Japanese garden while the Hassui cafe is the perfect place to unwind & chill. Their sweet potato dessert (a local dish) was terrific, cocktail hours were great too! Overall, this hotel lives upto the name & has many plus points over the other top hotels in Kyoto.
It's a luxury hotel at a magnificent location. Parking available just in front of the hotel. Walking distance to nearby tourist shopping streets. A quiet environment in it which you can say it's romantic. But set up inside room is quite old.

This hotel is truly like stepping into another world. The service is impeccable, the room we had was gorgeous and superbly clean. We were lucky enough to have a private onsen with very clean water at the perfect temperature on a lovely little lanai.
All of the staff are very friendly and professional and the food is fantastic as well. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a touch of classic Japan in Kyoto!

Our stay at Suiran was truly unforgettable. It is one of the most beautiful properties I have ever stayed at. Set along the peaceful Hozugawa River in the Arashiyama district, the hotel feels like a serene retreat surrounded by lush gardens and traditional architecture.
The grounds are stunning, with beautifully maintained gardens that offer a perfect place to unwind. One of our favorite moments each day was the happy hour with live piano music. It added a touch of elegance and calm that really set the tone for the evening.
Our room was incredible. Spacious, quiet, and beautifully designed with traditional touches and modern comforts. The highlight was the private onsen, which we used daily. It was such a relaxing and luxurious feature that made our stay feel extra special.
We also enjoyed a soothing in-room massage that added to the overall sense of calm and relaxation during our time at Suiran.
Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a good variety of fresh and flavorful dishes. It was a great way to start the day before exploring Kyoto, which is about a 30-40 minute cab ride.
Suiran is a peaceful, luxurious escape in a breathtaking setting. We left feeling rested, refreshed, and already dreaming about a return visit. Highly recommended.
