Ocean West Boutique Hotel

Would leave zero stars if I could!! Booked this hotel back in January for stays on March 21st and 29th, passing through Nassau en route to/from Eleuthera. We received the standard "Looking forward to welcoming you" message 3 days before our arrival. When we arrived at the hotel after a 16 hour trip from Western Canada, there was no record of our reservation and we were turned away. Clearly a scam to take advantage of high rates at Spring Break!! Steer clear - your reservation is NOT guaranteed!

The property is located on a top of a hill, yes indeed a beautiful view, but far from downtown and other fun attractions. The beach is across a very busy road and not suitable for swimming. No beach chairs, open ocean , rocks and a lot of seed weeds. Not the best impression for the first visit. The property is not a hotel, it’s an Airbnb. If you want a place to be isolated, this is the place. Breakfast is available, but not variety. Transportation is very pricey, best option rent a vehicle. The room was clean. The staff was attentive and willing to help.
It was my first trip to Bahamas and expected the location to be different.

We needed a hotel last-minute in Nassau in between flights, and Ocean West Boutique was available and looked quite suitable. Overall the property is nice; a few minutes' ride from the airport (make sure to take advantage of their shuttle-service - almost half the cost of a taxi !). The staff were wonderful - very helpful! There is a great casual restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel, and not too far to walk to a few shops. The property is lovely; elegant décor and pretty gardens, and a beautiful pool and deck. The pool is not heated, but the deck is lovely. It is a quiet property, away from the hustle and bustle and touristy-ness of other parts of Nassau. If you are looking for a beach, you won't find it here. The waterfront is a short walk away, but it is rocky, not sandy. Its a nice place for a short, quiet getaway close to the airport.

A lovely quiet room with view (I think the Emerald pictured with two comfortable chairs on the balcony), good service, plus breakfast options. As a birder the two small wetlands below the hotel's condos and the grounds provided several species of interest. Three restaurants within walking distance offered good food (2 Bahamian and one Italian with a mixed ambiance, especially the chickens and cats underfoot at The Plantation. I liked being out of the busier Nassau areas and the large tourist hotels.

We missed our flight to North Eleuthera and decided to fly to Nassau to catch a next-day flight from there. I booked a room at this lovely little boutique hotel at the last minute, and it turned out to be charming! Only a few miles from the airport, with a lovely pool and garden, as well as views of the water. We were able to walk down the driveway to have dinner at one of three nearby restaurants. Our room was spotless with a redone bathroom, and the bed was really comfortable. There was a rec room with a pool table and bar and a lovely terrace overlooking the pool. We left too early to enjoy breakfast, but the hotel provided transportation to the airport the next day at half the cost of our taxi the night before. The two staff that we met couldn't have been nicer. I happily recommend this hotel, if you need a place near the airport.

We stayed in the Coral room for 10 nights. Sadly the photos of the sea view don’t match the actual reality, your view will be obscured by badly fitting Venetian blinds and worse still bars on the windows. This is the same for all the rooms on the ground floor. It’s a quiet spot and if it’s peace and quiet you’re looking for then this is the place to be.
Most people will require a car if planning to stay at this guest house for any longer than a couple of days, there’s a couple of places to eat in walking distance and a fine dining restaurant called Sapordilla next door.
We didn’t hire a car but used the local Jittney bus which was $1.50 per trip each and took you right down into the Straw market/ down town. Cable beach is worth a visit but there’s only a very small section of it for public to use now as Sandals hotel group have taken over.
The guest house is on a steep hill giving beautiful views from the terrace by the pool, every where is generally clean and tidy. There is a gym advertised on the top floor but you couldn’t really call it that, it’s a treadmill, a
Cross trainer and a few weights with a bench.
If you require house keeping daily then you have to request it.
Being English we like a cup of tea in a morning so took our travel kettle with us, but a complimentary coffee tray can be provided if you want one. Breakfast is available but we didn’t eat at the guest house. I don’t think we would stay here again for various reasons, but I’m sure for 1 or 2 nights it would be ok.

This is a truly amazing spot for a quiet couples getaway. Beautiful pool area overlooking the ocean. We had the top floor Diamond suite, but the view is amazing from all of the ocean facing rooms. A driver is available to take you and pick you up around the island which is nice and they made some great suggestions. Really enjoyed the fresh, cooked to order breakfast overlooking the ocean. The beach at that spot isn’t great, but they will take you a very nice spot just down the road. Several nice restaurants in walking distance. We had a great time

Problems
Hotel states they have transportation that guests pay for. Upon arrival we called as instructed but no one was available. So, we took taxi to the property. Next day morning hotel driver transportation into town was fine and we were told to call to arrange return. Which we did, but “sorry we can’t pick you up for return because afternoon driver didn’t show up for work.” On return to airport I said "US departures" three times but driver still didn't go to right place until after she'd made destination mistakes and didn't appear to follow the clear signs.

Often, not always but more than rarely, we’d pass by the front desk and see it unattended. Overnight once the front desk phone, which we could hear (see below) rang about 50 times with no answer. With US State Department Jan 2026 warnings about theft in The Bahamas, I want to know hotel staff are fully present.

At breakfast, the only meal served on property, foods on menu weren’t available. I ordered wheat toast. Different server came back and said “we are out of wheat because of a wedding over the weekend.” Weddings I go to have toast issues, but unrelated to type of bread. Similarly ordered fruit plate with subsequent server returning with “we only have oranges and grapes.” Pleasant enough, but seems the property has supplier issues.

Things to note

Occasional furniture in common spaces has Louis XIV in paradise vibe.

While small and secluded therefore generally tranquil, some interior hallway noise as hotel with hard floors and space between room entry doors and floor.

A consequence of seclusion is sense of isolation.

Only a few off property places to eat lunch or dinner within few minutes walking from hotel. We went to both and they were fine; note those places are not open 7 days a week.

Bathroom fan made plenty of noise but didn’t extract much steam. So, either had to shower with bathroom door open and disturb my spouse or enjoy a tropical sauna

Relaxed, quiet, super tranquil vibe

This trip was one of the best experiences of my life… And this hotel was a big part of that experience. I don’t have enough good things to say about this hotel… Primarily, it’s the people who are working there that make it so good… You also meet a lot of nice people staying there during your own stay.

Lovely Hotel minutes from airport. Ocean is a 10 minute walk down a steep incline and then you have to cross the street.
Hotel did not have a restaurant but did serve breakfast.
Additional charges were paid at checkout and was not given a receipt or emailed a receipt. Staff was friendly and helpful

This hotel is beautiful with the friendliest, most helpful people! We've stayed at numerous hotels/Inns in Nassau on our way to the Out Islands of the Bahamas, but Ocean West Boutique Hotel surpasses them all. The pick up at the airport by Kayleigh-easy peasy-she gave us a tour of the hotel and showed us to our lovely room(Emerald) for an early check-in! Thank you. The room, the grounds, the POOL, the amenities-all perfect. But it was the staff that made us feel so at home and welcomed-Kayleigh, India and the young man at the desk overnight, as well as the other caretakers/workers in the hotel. We'll be back in 2 weeks and then again as this is our new definite stay in Nassau!

Lovely quiet hotel, very clean, nice rooms, and great staff. Easy walk to the beach and good resturants. I've stopped in many hotels in NP, but for me, this is my go to place to stay here.

Vintage feel

I was one of many who were stranded in Nassau during Tropical Storm Imelda. One quick early morning phone call and suddenly I am picked up and completely taken care of until my flight finally left. This 10 bedroom immaculate castle on the hill with incredible views made me feel like a queen. No hassle of taxi’s, no bustle of people or traffic, just safely relax in the tranquility and peaceful surroundings. The made to order breakfast on the terrace was delicious and simply delightful. While there’s no restaurant on site for lunch/dinner, simply order from whatever restaurant you like. An incredible ‘get away’ location. Highly highly recommend.

First the resort is very low key quiet and clean. The ladies at the front desk super friendly and helpful especially India she's the type of person you would want on your team, going the extra mile for the guest. Will definitely recommend this resort for anyone looking for a place to stay in Nassau. Also proximity to the airport is a plus.
