This place is really great. We loved the room - king size bed, big bathroom, chair and sofa and outdoor seating. The mattress was kinda firm for my bad back, but I did okay. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. We saw monkeys in a tree right next the hotel the first evening we arrived and heard the howlers every morning. (Bring those ear plugs!) There is a pair of iguanas roaming the property too.
The nearby beach (walking distance is nice) but the beach just south of Samara - Carillo - is the best beach I have ever seen in CR - and I've been to many! I don't recommend this place without a car - it's a 50 min walk along the beach to town. We liked Samara (say "SAM-a-ra") - small town but has all you need.
The Hideaway Hotel is fantastic! The staff is incredibly helpful and very friendly. The hotel is far enough away from the hustle and bustle so you can truly relax. But close enough so you can fully enjoy your time in Costa Rica. You can walk a short distance to the beach. The hotel has everything you need, restaurant, bar, pool, laundry service, so you really don’t have to leave if you don’t want to. All the meals we had at the restaurant were delicious, breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a full bar, with specialty drinks, beer and wine also.
If you are looking for adventure, you can book trips right there at the front desk; zip line, ATV trips, scenic flights, jungle tours, you name it. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable, service came in every day to clean.
We would highly recommend staying at The Hideaway Hotel!
Kind and helpful staff. Restaurant is delicious.
Un hotel perfecto para desconectarse, con la playa muy cerca y un staff amigable y servicial.
Todo perfecto.
100% recomendado
Secluded south end walk to Playa Samara Beach. Monkeys serenade you everyday. very good kitchen. Close to Samara Village and Playa Carillo. Not really close enough to walk. Peaceful.
Staff was extremely kind.
The room was refurbished and clean, given that the overall property is slightly outdated.
There was a rave in a nearby property that started at 10pm on a Friday and was still going on at 2pm the following day.
While the hotel mentioned that they called the police, the result was a noisy night that had serious impact in the ability of guests to sleep.
As a part of our two week vacation in Costa Rica we stayed 3 nights at the hideaway hotel. The hotel is family friendly, good food, we especially loved the pizza! Philippe and staff were very accommodating of our special requests and against the backdrop of monkeys and pool waterfall, we will know we’ll return. Our only complaint is that there’s nothing to complain about!
We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of our trip in Costa Rica. Very cute and beautiful place away from the town. It was a 2 minute walk down to the beach where you can watch the sunset. Not very big so it’s nice and quiet. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was big with AC, a ceiling fan and WiFi. Outdoor pool was warm and refreshing with a small number of sun beds around it. There is lots of wildlife including geckos, iguanas, lizards and a pack of howler monkeys around the site. Small restaurant with good included breakfast and good, reasonably priced food at lunch and dinner. Big fans of Pipo’s mint lemonade! Samara was a little disappointing - lovely beach but no amenities at all which is a blessing and a curse. Town centre pretty laid back but expensive food and taxis quite hard to come by and expensive compared to elsewhere. We did a great boat trip though and spotted dolphins, whales and turtles.
Nice hotel In Samara/Carrillo área!
I’m so glad that we stayed at the Hideaway Hotel as opposed to staying right in Samara. At the hotel, you definitely feel like you are in the rainforest. We saw several howler monkeys eating in a tree each day, and iguanas roam the property. The staff is exceptionally nice. Our stay wouldn’t have been the same without the fantastic hospitality shown to us by Felipe and Xinia. All of the food was so delicious. The included breakfast couldn’t have been better. Our plan was to eat dinner at different places in Samara each night; however, all but one night we ate at the hotel because the food and drinks are just that fresh and delicious! My only minor complaint would be that the pillows are really lumpy. If you are traveling to the Samara area, I would definitely recommend the Hideaway Hotel.
Incredible service, the staff is super nice and helpful. The breakfast is great especially the breakfast burritos. Our host Dania was very knowledgeable and gave us wonderful recommendations. The beach was very close and not too crowded.
Everything was amazing.
We loved our stay here, this little, cosy gem of a hotel is just our kind of place. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, well equipped and not overlooked. Good AC, big beds and tasty coffee. Tap water perfectly safe for drinking. No unnecessary outdoor lighting and distance from town ensure a peaceful sleep. Lovely pool surrounded by greenery. Food and drinks delicious ( great cocktails!) but just a little on the pricey side if you're on a budget. The staff are all wonderful, so helpful, warm and welcoming and yet unobtrusive. We loved the fact that you can borrow beach equipment from the reception. You do need a car to get around but not if you just want to get to the nearest beach. Not 5 star luxury but a very good standard hotel with a heart. Much recommended!
Quiet location, green and relatively small.
The room was clean and spacious. The cleaners removed a small wasp nest above the door on the first day. Friendly staff and guard at night.
The paths from the lobby to the rooms were unlit. The garden needs trimming. No filter for water. The pool needs retiling.
Good stay
Cozy small hotel right in the middle of the forest. You will be able to see howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, multiple species of crabs, iguanas, coatis and squirrells.
The hotel is in a walking distance to South Samara Beach, and 3 minute drive to Carrillo Beach (highly recomended).
This is a hidden treasure. Nestled into the beauty of nature - this property was spectacular. The staff were welcoming and took every opportunity to check in on us - and see how they could make our stay memorable.
We met the owner at the waterfalls in La Fontera, we drove to Samara the same night and had a wonderful stay! Wonderful staff, the breakfast included is amazing great food! Beautiful place and I felt that I was staying at a luxurious hotel. If you’re in Samara, please stay here! You will not regret it. Rooms are spacious and AC works great. Everyone from the security guard, the hosts and cook were great!!
We went here for our honeymoon for five nights and we had such an amazing time! The hotel was walking distance from Playa Sámara and Playa Carrillo and a close drive to the town of Sámara (though we didn’t have a car). The room was comfortable, and we enjoyed the light, fresh meals at the restaurant. I was also particularly fond of the resident lizards. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, especially with helping book our excursions. The staff we primarily interacted with were Xinia, Brian, and Maria, and they were all amazing!
The Hideaway is great. The staff is wonderful, the proper is beautiful and the food is delicious. Our only issue was slow toilet flushing but that was minor compared to all of the wonderful things we found at the Hideaway. There’s a very sweet iguana that hangs by the patio. We named him Esteban and enjoyed seeing him each morning.
