Excellent location with Bhimtal on one side and Sattal on the other side of the ridge. Birding opportunities all around. Staff were exceptional. Three day package involved nature treks and lovely picnic lunch was provided at the destination. Staff were knowledgeable about the surroundings and I was accompanied by Gaurav on a trek to Sattal. Gaurav was very knowledgeable and keen to assist with my bird photography sessions. He told me about a lovely bird hide run by the Christian Ashram where you can book an AM or PM session for 500 rupees, which is extremely reasonable! I saw several birds for the first time from this hide including the elusive White-crested Laughingthrush and many other birds. Food was excellent and Govind from catering made sure that my favourite food, including Kumaoni cuisine was provided. All in all, an excellent stay and I have plans to return next year.
Bathroom was rather basic. There was no shower curtain around the bath area/wetroom and water went everywhere during shower/bath resulting in a slip hazard. A simple curtain around the area would rectify the problem.
My recent stay at the Bungalow was nothing short of an enchanting experience. Fredy's Bungalow is fully surrounded by nature and the property itself was very beautiful. The food at Fredy's Bungalow was a delicious delight. Their culinary Chef crafted exceptional Chinese and Kumaoni cuisine that surpassed my expectations. The place was very clean and all the facilities mentioned in the description were available. Mr. Gaurav was always very accommodating and helpful and checked in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed.
I highly recommend Fredy's Bungalow to anyone seeking a magnificent getaway. The stunning architecture, tranquil location, outstanding hospitality, and exquisite food make for an unforgettable experience.
There wasn’t anything that I didn’t like.
It was a very peaceful and blissful location. We were particularly excited to visit for the birds in the area — the moment we got out to the patio, we saw a purple-rumped sunbird, fluttering around a tree very close to us. You can constantly hear the birds chirping and singing all day – it was lovely! Their team churns out meals that just feel homemade. Spacious and cozy bedroom, well-crafted architecture in the cozy sitting area, and the bathrooms were tidy.
Wanted some dedicated time to read, think, meditate, walk and just be around nature. And I could do all thanks to this terrific place. This Bungalow was worth every penny.
Everything was perfect. Nothing negative IMO.
Our stay was perfect in every aspect. They've got an excellent chef. Every single time he churns outs his best and sets a better benchmark than his previous one. The Chinese and their signature Kumaoni cuisine were delicious. I usually maintain a diet, but their tasteful dishes made me crave more and had my tummy filled.
Gaurav took us for a walk after lunch around the Bungalow, reaching SatTal lake in about 45 minutes. He was very engaging and explained to us all the heritage sites on the way. The Ashram, a 100-year-old Church, and the post office set up during the British period –– all these, we would have not known if Gaurav hadn't shared his local knowledge. Reaching the lake, we did Kayaking. The lake water was still and the calmness around the lake was rejuvenating. The location of the Bungalow was perfect and we got to experience all these on our walk into the woods.
Overall, the Bungalow is a highly recommended.
Our stay at Fredy’s was amazing. We were in for so many pleasant surprises. It all started with our entry in the courtyard outside the bungalow. The bungalow is constructed in European style. We got to know that the owner had migrated from Germany before independence. Do ask about their history from Anand ji or Gaurav or read the very thoughtfully written booklet about the property and it’s surroundings.of the booklet. The common lounge and the rooms have wooden flooring. All their furniture represents excellent craftsmanship.
The location of the Bungalow was peaceful, away from the city noise. Although Bhimtal lake is not visible from the bungalow, the tall deodar trees, the lush greenery, and the never-heard sounds of birds make for a very pleasant set up.
Gaurav, the manager, and his team gave us a royal treatment. Whatever we needed, they had it ready, even at a very short notice. There is simply no room for any feedback or complaints. Keep it up!
Highly recommend. A must-try for their hospitality and unique vintage experience.
The Bungalow’s architecture sold me out! I and my friend stayed here for a night and the whole experience was unique and hand-crafted by the host.
The location was semi-outdoors with tall deodar trees surrounding the Bungalow. The open patio at outdoors was clam and neatly maintained.
Gaurav and his team were charming and they handled us with at-most delicacy. Such a warm hospitality team.
They took us for a walk in the noon to the nearby SatTal lake. Gaurav accompanied us and gave us insights of the environment throughout the walk. We did kayaking at SatTal — it was simply stunningly beautiful and serene.
Overall, this Bungalow is a must visit if you are looking for home-like hospitality with nature indulged activities.
The Wooden Bungalow is situated away from the Hustle Bustle of the city - very close to jungles.
Best suited for naturists esp. Butterfly & Beatle enthusiasts. Rooms offer very basic amenities.
My wife complained about the missing Full Length Mirror / Dressing Table in her room. We also wished if we had a chair / table in our room.
Though there's not a single TVs in the entire Bungalow, we didn't miss it as we didn't go there to watch TV but some may miss it.
Food is terribly expensive @ INR 600 per person.
We felt the rooms too are expensive @ INR 5100 - INR 5200 per night as we later found cheaper rooms with similar or better amenities in the surrounding hotels like Mountain Club, which had a swimming pool as well. My son would have loved it but...
