A comfortable stay
Pros:

This is a old colonial hotel that has its own charm. It’s right on the beach front with very scenic views of the ocean and the waves . One cannot swim but admire the views. The swimming pool is nice and quite big with ample of sun beds. It’s quite deep 1.5 metres on shallow end and 2.2 metres on deep end. It’s sea water pool but very clean.
Nice grounds with buffet open air restaurants offering breakfast , lunch and dinner. It’s not air conditioned but fanned. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes and cater for all tastes.The restaurant by pool offers drinks and snacks. Basic but ok. The seating area needs to be improved. Could do with new seating furniture.Our room was basic but ok and had all the usual amenities one would expect.The staff are all approachable, friendly and eager to help and assist in any manner. We would stay here again as we really liked the colonial aspect of this hotel. Has its own charm and history.The location is very convenient.

Cons:

The main lobby is nice but its seating furniture is outdated , stained and dirty. Management needs to take a note of this and replace asap. Does not give a welcoming look as first point of contact with hotel for guests

A charming comfortable old style hotel with excellent service.

The location on the water close to the city center was perfect. It was our second stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening cocktails and delicious food.

All staff were fantastic. Pool (salt) great, very clean. Room had magnificent views over ocean. Food had all the flavours of the world, and really nice. Good location, central for Colombo. We are definitely returning!

Pros:

The breakfast is good with the standard selection of food choices. The location outstanding and the history of the hotel very interesting

Overall the building outside needs a major paint and the outside areas a good clean. This detached from an otherwise historic hotel
