Room was great, outdoor space was lovely and a great 5k loop for an evening stroll
Nothing
An amazing location, set in spacious green gardens and woodland, with a beautiful setting. Loads of outdoor space for the children to enjoy. A nice bar with terrace to sit and enjoy evening drinks and snacks. Breakfast was excellent, a reasonable sized buffet with lots of choices and excellent quality produce.
Grounds are beautiful, lovely building.
Bed was small and hard. Limited tea tray, no extras in the bathroom. We ate in the restaurant (we are a party of 8) all the starters arrived except my husbands. We ordered a red wine and they bought a fortified wine which was more like a port.
Loud music at 1am,no phone in room so had to call from mobile. They did sort the noise out.
Lots of cobwebs and generally not very clean.
Huge gardens and amazing architecture .
Love place
Nothing
Easy to get to and superb location with old world charm.
The restaurant service was a little slow.
Fantastic historical building with great grounds. Young staff on duty were without exception a study in great customer care and service.
Room was tired, a lot of mould in the bathroom,
Grounds were well maintained.
This place should be absolutely incredibly but, sadly, it's clearly being managed poorly and suffers as a consequence. The building and surroundings are amazing, the rooms are pretty good though are showing signs of neglect but the restaurant is shocking. The menu was very poor and what was delivered was even worse. No chef has been involved in creating anything tempting and, as a consequence, what the employed chefs deliver barely meets harvester standards.
Beautiful property
Arrival at reception poor. Lad gave us iPad told us to sign it. Said our room was in the stables that was it.
When I worked in hotels we asked about dinner, passed on breakfast times, asked for a swipe of a credit card so we could charge to the room. Apparently now this is not the case.
We went to the bar and ordered wine and sandwiches. I ordered some nuts to have whilst waiting for food they didn’t arrive. When our sandwiches arrived I said don’t worry about the nuts but can you make sure I am not charged for them. On check out I checked they were still there. When I explained the receptionist took this from the bill no apology was given.
When we had sandwiches we watched staff serve drinks from trays yet ignore dirty tables full of glasses. We even watched two male staff move a table to another area and leave the glasses on another table full of glasses.
Feel as the there was a lack of management and customer service throughout.
Breakfast products were fairly average and service again chaotic. One waitress continually filled a tray to over flowing then went looking for a male colleague to carry. If she filled the tray less and took it to the kitchen I’m sure the job would be done quicker and better.
Architecture ++!
We were only able to stay one night. It is a great hotel.
Absolutely beautiful building and grounds. Our room was in the stables which was outside of the main building. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Lovely dinner in the restaurant (not included but very reasonably) and excellent breakfast which was included. Sat outside in the summer evening in the garden with a cocktail and it felt magical!
The bathroom could be updated but was fine.
