A Relaxing Stay in a Beautiful Setting
We recently spent a week at Cocomo Resort in Port Vila and had a truly enjoyable experience. The resort's location is excellent—peaceful yet conveniently close to town—and our villa overlooking the lagoon was absolutely delightful. It offered the perfect mix of privacy and comfort, with beautiful views and a tranquil atmosphere.
The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout our stay. They went out of their way to accommodate any requests we had regarding our room, and we really appreciated their attentiveness and warm hospitality. Our young son especially loved the pool area and had a fantastic time playing with the toys and games available—something that made our stay even more enjoyable.
We are aware that the resort, like much of the region, was recently affected by an earthquake. Given this, we fully understand the ongoing renovation work and some of the minor inconveniences that came with it. It's clear that the hotel is in the process of being refreshed, and we can see the potential for it to be even more beautiful once these improvements are completed. The efforts made by the staff during this transitional time were commendable, and we want to sincerely thank them for their dedication and kindness.
All in all, we had a lovely stay at Cocomo Resort and felt very well looked after. We would gladly return in the future and look forward to seeing the resort once the renovations are complete.
It was a pleasure to stay at MG Cocomo. The staff were incredibly helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was very easy to manage the air conditioning. I really appreciated the blackout drapes. We enjoyed several meals at the resort restaurant. The food was fresh. Also, thanks to breezes and shade, we were able to eat outdoors in comfort.
Cannot fault the staff, they’re all absolutely lovely. The actual villa was horrible and run down. Lack of cooling downstairs, the kids bedroom had a fan with no blades. Furniture stained, missing cupboard doors. No mention they were commencing loud works, early am’s, on a new centre right by the pool. Missing palings on the jetty. Very run down. We stayed one night and moved to a resort 2 minutes away. Unable to get my 3k back, which was a lot for only for a few nights, and that was with 1k discount for last minute deal.
I cannot comment on the accommodation but can on the breakfast l had there today. Let me start with the good. This is a wonderful venue for children with breakfast and great coffee served near the kiddies pool area. Kudos to management for the fun area.
The staff are very friendly and try their best.
Now for their breakfast. I cannot even begin to express my dismay. On paper the Big breakfast seems great on the menu. Eggs, bacon, toast, half a banana, some grapefruit slices and 2 sausages. The bacon was undercooked remaining pink and white, the fried eggs were hard and dry being over cooked, the white bread used to make the toast caused my husband's sugar levels to spike up in the high 19 area and the sausages were spicy preservative filled pieces of brown ooze encased in sausage skins. Everything tasted awful. The staff did kindly cook the bacon a bit more and were extremely nice about it. I did not have the energy to complain about the sausages and egg but ate it in boarding school style.
I hope to see an improvement but l will only be having their great coffee there until the breakfast improves.
Such a pity as the rest of the resort looks great.
The ground floor rooms were excellent, great pool and view of lagoon. Please check before you book that there is a TV in your room that works. TVs have not been working for 5 months now. They did initially blame the earth quake, that is not true. Staff were lovely.
Absolute deception! I never leave reviews, but feel its absolutely (!) needed because this place needs to be closed down and fully renovated before anyone hurts themselves here or something really bad happens.
Beware, false advertising, beyond horrible conditions.
No pool, no restaurant outside specific eating hours (max 6pm).
Staff were absolutely lovely but it stops there.
Rusty nails, screw and broken metal in children play areas including seats/backrests, no staff after 6pm, no lights in room, no working TV(tv power plug is not even compatible with power sockets), looks beyond abandoned but still charges full rates.
Spoke to staff before arrival and No one mentioned anything... specifically asked about food and drink options + availability due to traveling with kids.
BEYOND Horrible stay, we have children and booked for a week but left within 24hrs.
Again staff is lovely and we feel for them dealing with this, but this place should not be bookable all.
We had the deluded waterfront villa. It was really lovely, sitting in the deck overlooking water was just beautiful, we could see starfish and sea cucumbers in the crystal clear water of the lagoon. Only downside was no signal for TV, maintenance changed the TV as everything was in Chinese, but still no signal. Only a minor hiccup as we were on holiday, not there to watch TV. Fully self co tai ed with washing Mach and dryer, instructions again in Chinese but I worked it out. Air conditioner worked perfectly, and the spa batch was lovely and relaxing.
Rosie on front desk was very helpful and friendly like all the staff in the restaurant etc. breakfast daily included was a bonus and looked forward to it each mornjng.
Another bonus supermarket right next door selling everything including wine and beer.
We loved staying there as on reading some of the reviews we were feeling a bit reluctant to stay there, but on our own experience we highly recommend staying here, and for the price we paid it was very reasonable.
Great location and very friendly staff.
Was a very nice accommodation at a great price.
Absolutely an incredible stay. I stayed in one of their waterfront villas, and it was amazing! Great shower, a jacuzzi, kitchen, even a washer and dryer! All in all the best place to stay in Port Vila
Extremely disappointed. Terrible management (Hong Kong owed, not locals)
If you do make the mistake of staying here, watch your bank account closely! I was charged twice and had to argue to receive it back.
Rooms smelt mouldy and are noisy.
Staff were lovely. The resort is run down and nothing like what was advertised. No TVs worked, no bathrobes, no beach, not sound proof, spa was unusable, toiletries, bottled water, tea and coffee was not restocked, bins not emptied, ant trails and cockroaches, loud music and yelling from across the lagoon, holes in walls with wires hanging out, broken or missing light bulbs and major plumbing problems. The toilet backed up through the shower drain, no maintenance man available. Two days later our villa was flooded with raw sewage. Belongings that were not soak in sewage smelt like sewage. Chinese man, Alex, was just going to mop the floors. We were eventually moved, twice, first villa had cockroaches in the fridge and same plumbing problems, second move was to a mould apartment with an unusable shower. We slept in the clothes we were wearing as our belongings were scattered between three villas and the resort laundry. Management, Annie, was unsympathetic and unhelpful and we were offered a free meal. Our belongings were washed and given a full refund after constant complaining. The swipe cards also opened other apartments. Four rooms was the most we seen occupied at any one time. Why can this resort advertise what they are not offering? Going through previous reviews it has been like this for quiet awhile. Shame on the booking agents.

Nice rooms and good outlook. Pool area needs some work. No a single sun lounger available by the pool or beach area which was a huge let down.
Hate to say it but since the Chinese bought it the place is going downhill. Reception staff are great but it stops there. Bar/Restaurant staff look like they don’t want to be there. Food was OK. Cocktails are nice. Pool was nice. Lagoon was average. Couldn’t swim in it. It’s infested with spiky star fish. Watch your step.
TV in the room didn’t work. No A/C in lounge room/kitchen downstairs. Only a ceiling fan that barely spun.aster bedroom was nice and comfortable with working a/c and fan. 2nd bedroom no a/c but fan worked.
Owner needs to spend more money on the place to fix it up a bit. Rooms included. A new kettle won’t do it mate.
They were fixing up the kids pool area which is good. Main pool was fine.
Bar/restaurant right next to pool is good but you can see that area needs a bit of love.
The grounds are lovely and there is a kids play area with working equipment.
We had room 11.
Location is OK. Kava bar across the road if you’re keen. We did. No issues. Supermarket right next door is handy.
I wouldn’t stay here again and would choose another place sorry.
Convenient to supermarket and buses to town, lovely surroundings and villa, friendly helpful staff
This place is amazing if you want a nice quiet spot out of town. Plenty of buses go past to catch into town. Grocery store next door an a mama fruit an veggie stall across the road. Staff are awesome help you with all your questions.
Best Resort in Port villa..budget friendly. Nice atmosphere, good service. Close to airport, supermarket. Cleaning service 10/10 , staff were always ready to help. Good for families because small park and swimming pool available for kids too.
