Barali Beach Resort Koh Chang

Barali Resort was simply stunning. The staff are so warm, helpful, and attentive. Sadly, the resort and Island are being affected by the events on the Thai-Cambodian border, however, from our experience and understanding, Koh Chang is very safe. We had a beautiful few days here with family. Help out the locals and support Koh Chang.

The hotel did not fully live up to our expectations. The location is remote but peaceful, which is nice if you want to relax. The rooms appear to have been renovated recently. However, we booked a deluxe villa advertised with a rain shower, but in reality it only had a handheld shower. The bed linens had noticeable blue, red, and yellow spots, as did the blue beach towels, and the white towels also had stains and holes. The beds were firm, as is common in Thailand.

On the positive side, the staff were friendly and assisted with our luggage. The pool area is decent, and breakfast was satisfactory with an egg station available.

We were unsure if the spa mentioned on the hotel’s website is still in operation, as we did not see it during our stay. Overall, the hotel has some nice features, but the room quality and advertised amenities did not meet expectations.

We spent 3 amazing nights at Barali Resort in Koh Chang and loved every second of it. Our villa was absolutely beautiful—spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with a large balcony and a private bath/spa that opened into a peaceful little garden. It was the perfect place to unwind, and we slept like babies every night!

A highlight of our stay was the romantic beachside dinner organized by the staff. The food was delicious, and we had the most breathtaking sunset as our backdrop—an unforgettable experience. Each morning, we looked forward to the generous breakfast buffet with so many tasty options to choose from.

The staff at Barali were outstanding—friendly, professional, and genuinely welcoming. From reception to housekeeping to the restaurant team, everyone made us feel truly cared for.

Excellent location, setting amongst established grounds, pool, beach, bar, restaurant - everything was perfect! Rooms were spacious and very private - we had a mix of deluxe and premier in our group. The reception team were brilliant - even arranged for a snorkelling trip and massages by the pool. Nothing was too much trouble! The only thing that could have been better, and I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel here, is the temperature of water in the shower, was luke warm at best.

If staying at Khlong Prao Beach, would recommend staying here. Nice quiet complex of bungalows. A slight bit dated in the rooms in spots, but very spacious, comfortable, and clean. (The bathroom is VERY spacious!). Beach towels and carrying basket provided. Breakfast was terrific - lots of variety and some items changing each day. Pool is lovely; beach area not very crowded. Dinner near the bar as the sun set was very relaxing and picturesque - and food options very good, too (try the green curry!).


Staff very helpful arranging transfer to Trat airport, an afternoon snorkeling and swimming trip from Bang Bao pier, and a scooter rental another afternoon (definitely rent a scooter!).


Very enjoyable time in Koh Chang and at the Barali; would stay there again!

Nice resort

Als wir eincheckten wurden wir in ein Bungalow geführt das erstmal etwas älter und muffig erschien. Auf Nachfrage bei der Rezeption wurden wir aber sofort in ein anderes anscheinend neuer renoviertes umgezogen dass auch top gereinigt war! Das Resort ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, klar gibt es auch mal Moskitos oder einen Gecko im Zimmer. Jeder der sich hier beschwert oder hat sollte sich bewusst sein das man in den Tropen ist! Aber die Zimmer waren täglich sauber, und wir hatten NIE ekliges Ungeziefer wie Käfer oder sonst was im Zimmer.

Der Service und das Personal sind wirklich super, jeder ist sehr bemüht vom Gärtner bis hin zum Barkeeper am Strand! Die Lage ist super idyllisch, der Strand schön breit und der Pool auch sehr schön. Ich verstehe vorige Bewertungen nicht die über einen schmutzigen Pool berichteten, das stimmt so nicht.

Die Anlage würde von mir / uns volle 5 Sterne kriegen wenn es eine Adult Only Anlage wäre. Man kommt in so eine Bungalow Anlage um Ruhe und Entspannung zu suchen und nicht für Kleinkinder am Pool und Strand.

Resort ist auch behilflich beim Roller Verleih, einen Roller vor Ort zu haben vereinfacht alles sehr und macht flexibler. Ansonsten sind aber in der Umgebung auch Restaurants wenn man gerne 10-15 min einfach läuft.

We stayed here for six nights in October. We had a wonderful time. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens. The pool is large. We ate at the restaurant a few times, which was lovely. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. I would’ve liked a wider choice of breakfast cereals, but that was the only downside. All in all, a beautiful hotel.

Great quiet hotel and by the sea but its not a beach for sitting or swimming, its very flat so tide is either in or miles out. When out though can walk for miles. Fantastic breakfast in lovely surroundings

We stayed here for 6 nights.
Good points: spacious rooms, lovely setting within the garden, right at the beach, friendly staff.
Points for improvement: breakfast is ok, only sugar yoghurt is served unfortunately no muesli is served, the whole premises needs maintenance, the deck at the beach definitely needs attention.
Next door via the beach there are some lovely restaurants to have lunch or dinner.

Nice hotel, we get up-grate, friendly personnel all was OK.

Fantastiskt trevlig upplevelse, utomordentlig personal med många yngre praktikanter som är kunniga och artiga. Hotellet passar både för barnfamiljer och äldre. Städning bra, varje dag med fräscha handdukar och allt du behöver. Mycket växter och träd gör att det kan finnas en del moskiter men det finns insektsnät över sängar. Inte så bra handikappanpassat med många nivåskillnader.

Lovely rooms and location with a nice clean beach. The staff as per usual in Thailand friendly and keen to please a true asset. However it appeared there at the time start of the high season new staff or trainees so a few issues with knowledge and skills.

Here and there a little maintenance required on the decking areas I think being independent and having a few lean years in Thailand owing to lack of tourism cash flow may of been an issue I’m sure after a good season this will change as I could hear maintenance taking place

I would be more than happy to come back to this bit of unspoilt Thailand and this hotel.

Just left hotel with a bad feeling which is shame we stayed in villa with our own pool for 5 nights perfect
But the catering at the hotel needs reviewing it was raining so decided on room service no menu's in the room tried to call on 3 occasions no reply so gave up
Breakfast we like to eat early so arrived at the restaurant at opening all the food including Thai food was completely cold the person cooking eggs and bacon was untrained on the 5 morning bacon was only ready 1 day the fried eggs were cold no poached eggs boiled eggs or scrambled were offered only omelette
I stayed at this hotel in April and the breakfast was 100 percent better the chef today was taking photos of the food but what it didn't show all the food was cold

The resort is accessed from the main road via 500m of narrow paved road. Welcome was lovely and the resort has an open feel with beautiful paths (lit very tastefully) in the evening. Our bungalow was set back from the pool area, fully detached with windows on all sides. Step down into the sunken bath for a luxury dip. The room is well appointed with mini bar and safe. Bags for the beach with towels. When arranging our onward journey to a nearby hotel the staff were very helpful and asked no charge for the trip. All together a delightful stay.

We stayed for 3 nights wish it could have been longer. Amazing breakfast. Beautiful private beach. Infinity pool. You feel like your in a tropical paradise all the greenery around you. Loved it ❤️

Nice resort and beach. Only problem was the bed (or pillow - or maybe both), it was too hard. After 3 nights I could barely move my neck. Thailand seems to have really hard beds overall, but this was worse than other places. Could just be us though.

Stunningly beautiful place, but had a bad experience with the receptionist and the room. We booked a sea view villa and it was not worth it - worn out and the check in experience was bad. It seems we unfortunately had a bad luck with this place or something. Was not wort the price we payed, would probably been much happier if my expectations would have been of 2,5-3 star hotel. Breakfast with the incredible views and exceptional selection was worth 4+ stars.
