JW Marriott Hotel Zhejiang Anji

I recently stayed at this hotel during my summer vacation. The service and the overall atmosphere left a warm memory . Every interaction with the front desk staffs reflected genuine care for guests — from recommending local attractions, unique restaurants with regional flavors, to suggesting outdoor activities.

The hotel itself has a distinct and charming style - see those pictures with interesting decoration and the external views. The location is convenient. Next to it is a beautiful golf course. Restaurants and a metro center are within easy reach (by taxi or car).

Dining options were another highlight — the hotel offers both Western and Eastern cuisines. We tried out both breakfast and lunch buffet - both were very good. Lots of variety of hot and cold dishes, creamy yogurt, fresh fruits, and a surprisingly delightful selection of desserts. Special tea from An Ji (the local county) is also another addition to the total experience. We constantly went back to have sip of the An Ji White Iced Tea at the lobby as well.

We enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend this place to whoever travel to the nearby places.

Excelente Hotel

We enjoyed ourselves at this hotel but do have a few comments.

We checked in at 8PM but found no mixed drinks available with dinner… later we found there was no bar tender and wasn’t there the entire length of our stay! That is really unacceptable.

Since we are Titanium members, We did receive a nice room upgrade after we complained that we reserved a golf view but were first sent to the other side of the building. The room was nice and we appreciate having some items in the minibar. However, with no bar tender it wasn’t enough.

The coffee available in the rooms was pretty bad. It must be the brand of coffee since the dates showed they were made in April 2024.

We found excellent bell boys.
Free parking just a short walk away and we appreciated the shuttle.

I must say that we did not enjoy the restaurant and were just barely able to stand breakfast. We found the items were not fresh and for instance, eggs spent hours under heat lamps. It was hard to find anyone willing or able to cook fresh eggs. The service girls spent all their time hiding in the kitchen area and never checked on customers. No coffee was served, bacon was undercooked and really greasy and in general all buffet items were overstocked and thus either too cold or dry.

The dinner menu is lacking for our taste. We struggled to find anything on the menu we wanted and thus only ate there the first night.

For the buffet, may I suggest adding fruit pies (9 inch pies, not tiny foil cups), omelets and fresh made-to-order pancakes and waffles? Nobody wants to eat dry pancakes and waffles that have been sitting for hours.

Then having those pies available for dinner would be great with good ice cream and also some fresh cake like chocolate or vanilla layer cake with icing. In addition, some good fish fillets and nice soups would be a nice addition to the menu. We found the selection on the menu very unappealing. It was just a reprint of the room service menu.

The golf course was great with nice maintenance and good caddies.
We never found our ball in an old divot after two rounds of golf. Greens were almost perfect.
I did manage to seed some of the surrounding area with golf balls so expect a great crop next year. ;>)

We are returning for a few days in December and bringing family with us. We hope the experience in the hotel is improved.

Parfait

First, Room Issues:
1.The room cleanliness was subpar, with many bread crumbs on the sofa.
2.There were small bugs on the bed pillows, indicating poor hygiene.
3.The balcony door lock was broken and could not be closed.
4.The hairdryer in the room was non-functional.
Second:
1.The hotel's breakfast area lacked clear signage, causing confusion and wasting time trying to locate it. With a poor experience.
2.The underground parking required an additional fee, yet there was no prominent notice at the entrance, leading to wasted guest time.

It surely got moldy with the carpet in the room, and also somewhere in the elevator. You can smell it... For hotel with JW brand, this one seems poorly managed / maintained. Very disappointed.

The food (breakfast, buffet lunch) are very mediocre.

Amazing hotel. Great view.

Staff and culture is their biggest strength.
Johnson, Echo and Stephan from sales and front desk - their attention to detail for our group travel was fanstastic.
Aaron and Ailee took care of our group at the restaurant while the Chef took amazing care of our vegetarian diet needs. Staff at tea lounge and Ken from travel desk too knew what hospitality really means.

The GM Dan has a great team and an amazing culture.

All in all we had a relaxing time in this JW Marriott. The location and its surroundings are beautifully and quiet.
The hotel is very clean and taken care of, staff is friendly (speaks limited English, though) and they are good with kids.

On the downside, the food quality (especially breakfast) has nothing to do with other Marriott luxury class hotels (W, Edition).
The pool is far from luxurious. They are even enforcing swim caps.
TV in the room is locked, so you can't connect your iPad or laptop.

My wife and I checked into the hotel yesterday and we are disappointed with food selections and quality. Our stay can be summarized as follows:

Check-in process: overall we are pleased with check-in process even though the hotel is quite full.

Room and facility maintenance: overall it is quite well maintained for 6 years old hotel in China. Room is quite clean with a good air condition.

Breakfast: it is horribly bad. Selections are extremely limited and quality of food is terrible!! I spoke to a staff about that, and what I was told is that the management sets a budget for F&B therefore food selections are limited. Coffee is bad. Because of set budget, hotel Sacrifices food selections and quality services to guests. I am a life Titanium member and have stayed Marriott/Sheraton hotels almost 2,100 nights, and I know what JW Marriott SHOULD provide for breakfast. Let me say this, we have spent over 120 days this year at different hotels, between Marriott hotels and Hyatt hotels. The food at this hotel is worse than most hotels I stayed under Marriott hotels, even much worse than Courtyard hotels I stayed in China. I fully understand that this golf resort facility and there is relatively limited selection outside hotel facility.

Please DO remember: this is a JW Marriott. Food services are horrible!! I never expect this BAD at a JW Marriott hotel. Food services are import part of hotel stay and traveling. Because of this, I rated our stay at this JW Marriott Anji as POOR!!

Message to Marriott regional management:

You just CAN NOT sacrifice food services to guests because of its set budget. You are destroying JW Marriott brand!!

We are both retired and plan to travel extensively next a few years and will spend many nights at hotels. With this kind of food services, this would most likely first trip to this hotel and WILL be the last trip to this hotel.

Golf facility: we didn’t play any gold game and it looks like golf courses are well maintained.

I sincerely hope Marriott management do something about food services at this hotel…

Great location and beautiful comfortable rooms. Breakfast is a must - one of the best and biggest I’ve seen in China.

Stayed for a few nights recently with my wife and had a lovely time. Property, room and location all excellent, service too. Whilst not busy during the week at present it seemed to be quite full at the weekend - due to golf course and countryside on the doorstep. Definitely a 5 star rating, though one thing that could be improved is breakfast. Catering largely for local tastes, I found the international choices somewhat lacking or lower quality than I am used to at JWs. That said if you are looking for a break from shanghai I would definitely recommend and we will be back.

All staff very attentive. Very good bed and linen. Very good food. Beautiful grounds.

The moment we arrived at the reception the staffs and manager on duty did their best to make sure our stay as comfortable and as smooth as possible. The suite that we got was very nice and spacious with excellent view of the mountain! The staffs at reception had helped us arranging our transportation for local sightseeing and they did their best to make sure we're well taken care off. Even though their English is still limited but I could see that they tried their very best to make sure our stay with them was memorable! A 10 for staff service!
