The stay was ruined because the pool was closed. We booked a group of 12 families and were not told the pool was closed until further notice. Had we known this information we would have booked at another hotel to give our children something to do. When we spoke to the hotel manager, Ellie Braun, she was dismissive and rude. She pushed us off to her event manager Cecilia Upton’s voicemail. She didn’t even say goodbye, she was more annoyed that she had to speak to a customer. I left a voicemail with Cecilia Upton but she never returned my call. The breakfast was gross. We ended up eating Starbucks instead. The Hyatt used to be one of my hotel chains I used based on customer service. However, after this experience you are better off going to Hilton or Marriot.
Terrific hotel. Clean, quiet with free parking and a better-than-average breakfast selection. Terrific employees who were very helpful. Great neighborhood with restaurants and interesting shops within walking distance.
The hotel room was not clean, toothpaste on mirror, refrigerator dirty, sofa had several stains and candy wrappers in between cushions, slow drain in the sink, in the morning short staff. The front desk was too busy to help because they had to cook the free breakfast food. My sister room had a leak from the ceiling from the air conditioner from the room above. Ceiling plaster fell down and water caused the room carpet to be wet. No staff available to help till almost mid day!
Staff was nice. Lobby was pretty.
Our room was hot, drawers and window shades were broken. Pool was not working which was a major let down for the kids.
Our stay at Hyatt was amazing. The location is excellent. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The breakfasts were very good. The staff members were very friendly and supportive
However, there was a very unpleasant moment related to the payment of our stay. I paid for our stay in advance, through Booking.com. However, the cost of the stay was charged from our bank card for the second time during our stay. The incorrectly debited money was returned a few days later. But we were limited in funds for a while, which was very frustrating. I hope that the hotel management will solve the problem of double debiting money so that customers do not experience such aversions anymore in the future
Not comfortable; not clean. Overcrowded, poor breakfast selections, poor hours. Someone put their greasy head on the window and left it that way for us. Thanks for the extra hair in the bathroom for my collection. Nice saggy bed, too. Appreciate the attention to detail when you overbook rooms so that confirmations are not honored. Makes it unpleasant for everyone.
The good part: the young lady who checked us in was delightful. Very helpful and gave lots of good information. The however room was not great. There was what appeared to be black mold on the ceiling in front of the vent. The carpet was filthy. The whole room felt damp. Very disappointing for such an expensive room! The hotel apologized for the problems but did not offer to discount the room or anything. Will not be returning!
This is usually a great place to stay. My concerns during this visit were the pool was closed for repairs during the 4th of July weekend and only offering room service every other day. Otherwise, it is in a great location and the staff members were very friendly.
We were welcomed enthusiastically by front desk agent, Effie. She was an absolute delight (as was the gentleman working with her)! My five-year-old daughter asked about a million questions at check-in and Effie answered each one with care and enthusiasm, which just tickled her. When my daughter mentioned she'd like a room 'way up high,' Effie put us in a room on the 7th floor. When we saw her again later, she remembered my daughter's name and took a few minutes to interact with her... It was just so sweet and made our experience so much more personal. My daughter is still talking about our stay at the Hyatt Place, and there's no other place we'd consider staying the next time we visit Bloomington. =)
Honestly, we were very happy with our stay. I can't think of anything to improve upon.
The town is wonderful. The employees were very kind and did their best to help us. Unfortunately, our room had issues that could not be helped. The hotel was booked and we could not change a different room.
The hotel needs updated.
The staff was great and overall the hotel is clean and nice.
Our room was very damp, and overly fragranced to cover up the damp smell. We stayed in a room right off the air conditioning units. The units were right outside our window and our main view which I could live with but the room was so moist, we had to wear shoes walking on the carpet. There's now way the ventilation or the air was healthy.
Low traffic, nice college town.
Pull out sofa was horrible. I could feel every wire. When I pulled out the mattress there were crumbs from the couch. The pool was closed-which was a draw. The mini fridge was dirty. I wasn’t expecting that parking was I’m a ramp off the property. Inconvenient and I felt a little unsafe when I had to return to the hotel late.
Cleanliness, size of rooms - larger than most hotels, easy parking, cute shops within walking distance, free and delicious breakfast, friendly staff, Starbucks attached to hotel.
Nothing. Everything was great.
Something was wrong with the AC I believe. Moisture in the room, bedding and pillows were damp. Even my ball cap was wet the following morning just from it being left on the couch in the room.
Very good location. Close to ISU campus and downtown activities, Amtrak, and great places to eat. Staff is ho-hum for friendliness and being engaging. The rooms are clean and the 2nd floor outdoor space is lovely.
