Harald and Sonia and the staff were exceptionally nice and gracious and helpful Hosts. The dining was like a 5 star Michelin rating. Fresh, superb delicious food. The owners helped me with my dog and my computer being fixed!! They laundered my doggie bed without me even asking! They found me good taxis, and they even helped me get to a very good groomer and a computer repair shop. Harald even went out of his way to help me look for new computers. They laundered my clothes for a small fee and they were returned to me in perfect and even better condition. The staff are very nice. As a woman traveling alone, the hosts made me feel so at ease and comfortable. The rooms are meticulously clean and nicely decorated.
Don’t miss staying here when you visit Izamal. The owners are very kind to Animals. They are humane rescuers. The grounds are like being in an enchanted forest. The pool is lovely, large and clean. I will definitely return there!!!!!!Highly recommend it. Very classy place to spoil yourself.
The place was lovely, rooms are spacious /very clean and staff attentive. Breakfast was excellent - it was the eco toilets (poo paper in the bin next to the toilet) and listening to the couple next door having noisy sex constantly through the paper thin walls put us off.
Arriving here we immediately felt relaxed and happy. Harald welcomed us with a drink at the bar while he told us about the hotel and gave us information on Izamal. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and very Mexican in style, with a covered seating area outside. Dinner was served on the lovely terrace and the food was delicious. Breakfast at the pool bar was also very good. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the monastery in the centre of town and is a lovely, peaceful haven to come back to after sight seeing. Highly recommended.
Stayed here in Dec 21. The hotel was quiet but Harold and Sonia were excellent hosts and they couldnt do enough for us. We had an excellent meal and some lovely cocktails in the beautiful poolside bar! A beautiful hotel with a very relaxing vibe, would highly recommend to anyone staying in this part of the world!
Nice room with seating area. Very pleasant breakfast by the pool and dinner was the best meals we ate in Mexico. Friendly proprietor and staff. The only problem was to get from the bed to the toilet you had to go down and then up 3 steps which were difficult to navigate at night. The hotel does provide one small motion sensor nightlight, but they really need a couple more by the toilet. Luckily we had brought a torch, so managed,
Was pleasantly surprised with this lovely hacienda midway between Valladolid and Merida. Harold and Sonia and staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Meals prepared by Sonia were fantastic plus a solid choice of wines. Room was pleasant with special aesthetic. If you're looking for an escape in a lovely atmosphere with gorgeous pool, great food and relaxing breakfast this is it. Would highly recommend.
This is a family business run by Sonja and Herald. They do their best to fullfill every wish. The food was excellent!!
The rooms are spacious and the AC works correctly! Perfect quiet place for a discovery tour in and around Izamal!
We loved our stay at Santo Domingo, the Austrian host/owner is very kind and it feels like a warm welcome. Our free upgrade was very nice, the room had the coolest shower ever. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant, and it was very good. First caprese, then chicken and then cinnamonrolls with kahlua sauce. This menu cost about 760 pesos. The next Morning we had breakfast at the pool, also very good. If we would like to un-stress, we would book this again.
We booked last minute as we live in Mexico and had something to do in Kantunil one afternoon. We wanted to spend the night close since we have two small children and a dog. This hotel was great and was very accomodating. I asked beforehand if the room had a fridge and I was told there would be one in the room. No problem! I also asked if our dog needed special instruction and was told there are several rescue dogs on the property so to have him on a leash. No problem! The property gods were great and we never had an issue with our dog. One was named Lucky and I can see why. He is very lucky to live on such a beautiful property.
We stayed in the Family suite which was big enough for four of us and the dog. Also, it was close to the pool and Palapa bar, where they server breakfast. We loved how peaceful the property and how there were animals at every turn (sheep, boar, dogs and fish). The kids loved it!
The AC and Wifi worked great and there was plenty of hot water. The staff was very nice and helped us with anything we asked about. My family will definitely be returning as we enjoyed a night in the jungle that was peaceful and full of nature!
A Pleasant stay during a tour through Yucatan. It is a fascinating mixture of old, new, and a jungle-like garden guarded by a lot of peaceful dogs. In the evening we had some good drinks at the bar and in the morning an excellent breakfast. There were only a few moskitos.
While the facilities are well appointed and lovely, we were left with a bad taste from the owner’s attitude. Not a warm welcome. Fine, but then t
he margarita we ordered was made with the right ingredients but the juice of only one lime meant one sip emptied the glass that was otherwise filled to the top with ice cubes. Odd. The owner seemed oblivious that in the rest of the world there is some volume required to a margarita. Argumentative and unyielding. He never got the memo that the customer is always right. As we were! Empirically!
Visited Izamal In January this year, this was a perfect place to stay, within walking distance of town, set in lovely grounds, we had a room with a veranda. We ate breakfast
around the pool, which was very good, had an evening meal which was also very good.
I am normally bitten my mosquitoes, but did not get one. Not that the owner can do
Anything about that. Would definitely recommend, to my friends.
We stayed in Casita Uxmal. The king sized bed was super comfortable. The design of the casita was romantic with low lighting in the bedroom above the canopied bed. Personally, we would've found a table lamp useful for reading in the evening. The grounds have lush vegetation and the paths are meticulously maintained. The WI-FI works very well, the lack of cable/TV was not missed by us. Lots of dogs laze around the grounds and are very peaceable but they woke us with one big chorus of a howl in the middle of the night! We fell back to sleep easily but it was something of a surprise. Be sure to get the breakfast; I had Mexican style scrambled eggs and the warm rolls and flaky croissants along with the rich dark coffee were perfection!
We rented a Jr Suite for a few days and found this was a very clean, comfortable and well run establishment. The proprietor is very accommodating. Grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained. Children would enjoy the sheep and other animals. It is close enough to the centre to walk but far enough away to be in a more residential area which provides a different perspective on daily life. I'd recommend pre-booking the meal plan for breakfasts as we didn't find any restaurants offering breakfast. The food here was delicious and service was friendly and efficient.
Walking distance to the main square this lovely hotel does not disappoint. Variety of room types, all beautifully appointed. Outdoor patios, a beautiful pool, a welcoming bar with a good selection of drinks, and a delicious meal on request. Breakfast was delicious and our host was wonderful. Lots of birds, flowers and grounds to walk around and explore. Remnants of the previous Hacienda along with Maya artifacts found on the grounds.
This is a charming, well-tended spot with habitationes spread across the property with a lively revitalizing pool after a hot day of sight seeing. Breakfast was the best we have had in Mexico: fresh fruit plate, fresh OJ and croissant that must be baked in house as well as main course. The palapa pool area also has a full bar and ready to serve you. Definitely get the junior suite; we visited new found friends' regular room and you could barely swing a cat in it, Shower water is hot and taps high pressure. See some liked the 10 dogs on property; could have done without the occasional barking at the gate. Izamal is my favorite alternative to Merida. Colonial feel, Yucatan cuisine without the crowds and noise. Hotel is a six block walk to el centro. Since the hotel is owned by Europeans, ice is not a priority. If I could improve one thing, it would be to install a fridge in the room and have more ice available at the bar. Oh, we Norte Americanos!
This is the coolest little place with a small bar/restaurant fronting a lovely pool, surrounded by gardens. There is a variety of wildlife, and farm animals that all seem to blend in with the whole experience. Breakfast is wonderful, made fresh daily. We stayed in a small bungaloo, super comfy bed and a/c. The bathroom was very prettily done with great hot water. We were there in February, so the mosquitoes were a bit enthusiastic - but didn´t hamper our appreciation of this lovely place.
