Exceptional staff, great value and a comfortable stay, we will return!
Pros:

Fabulous hotel. Welcoming, friendly staff. Very attentive and polite. Great ambience. The room surpassed our expectations for the great price we paid. Exceptional value for money. Clean and comfortable, great location.

Cons:

One lift out of order, but there were 2, so not really a big deal. The view was of a side street, not much to look at but not awful. At the end of the day it was somewhere to sleep, we had the city to explore, so the view from the window didn't really matter.

Excellent will stay again
Pros:

Lovely hotel, nice and clean and very welcoming. The room we stayed in was great too really modern and stylish with everything you need for a great stay.

Cons:

Bed was a little uncomfortable and pillows but this could just be own preference

DISAPPOINTING IHG INDIGO YORK STAY
Pros:

2/5 – Very disappointing accessible room

We stayed in accessible room 223 and unfortunately our experience was very poor.

The first issue is simply getting to the room.

You have to use the staff lift, which immediately makes the whole process feel like an afterthought rather than something designed with accessibility in mind. Two days later the main lift was still out of use!

Inside the room there were several maintenance problems that I didn't know where to start!

The sink tap moved around when you tried to use it and the sink plug wouldn’t stay down.

The shower seat was frankly disgraceful it was covered in slime (which I had to clean then put a towel on so I could use it) and black mould, clearly because it hadn’t been cleaned or dried properly after previous guests had showered.

The design of the bathroom was also problematic.

The shower seat is set extremely high and cannot be adjusted due to it being rusted at the points where it should be easy to alter, which would make it very difficult for many wheelchair users to transfer onto it.

It’s also worth pointing out that not all disabilities involve wheelchair use I'm an amputee and this room was about as useful as a chocolate teapot, why on earth do hotel room designers NOT ASK DISABLED USERS for help when designing rooms and bathrooms!

At 5'10", I personally struggled with both the height of the toilet and using a sink clearly designed only with wheelchair users in mind.

Accessible design needs to consider a wider range of disabilities.

Cleanliness throughout the room was also poor. The beds were badly made, and the mattress on the bed nearest the wardrobe had a huge dip in the middle.

The desk seat has a huge dried in stain which could either be easily cleaned or changed, you just don't know what the stain was.

I’m not convinced the bedding was clean either there was what looked like a mascara mark on my pillow and I had to ask for additional pillows.

I did take a video of the bathroom issues but can't upload onto this site.

The air-conditioning/ heating sounds like an aircraft taking off and the daily bin collection at 6am on both mornings mean that unless you sleep like the dead or are deaf you are going to be awake whether you like it or not!

Me I can hear a mouse farther 100 yards away so like my mattress I dipped!

The only redeeming feature of the stay was breakfast.

They offer freshly cooked options as well as the usual buffet, and the staff in the dining room were pleasant and helpful.

Overall, as a Silver IHG member, this stay was very disappointing. Based on this experience we would not recommend this hotel and would not choose to stay here again.

Excellent hotel close to the historic York centre.
Pros:

Breakfast options were nice, the room was big and comfortable, the shower and bathroom were modern and very clean. The staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions.
We were also offered late checkout free of charge.

Cons:

The car park is 5mins walk from the hotel instead of at the property.
