A lovely quiet location just ten minute walk into city centre. Comfortable and smart hotel, reasonable rates. Lovely staff and welcome. Clean rooms with good decor and amenities. Walmgate has lots of lovely restaurants (the Argentine steak house was excellent). Didn’t have breakfast as Betty’s too close!!!!
Location was great and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Very thin walls - could hear noises from neighbouring guests very loudly. Carpets were filthy and room was dusty.
The hotel, the stafff, the location
Beautiful hotel, lovely friendly staff, ideal location
Nothing
Great vibe! Great staff!
We absolutely love this hotel as it’s in a Fantastic location, with comfortable rooms. We always splashout and opt for a king bath room, which for us offers the most space and comfort. It’s on a street with every restaurant type you could think of and a close walk to the centre of York. Plus it has parking just 5 mins away. The staff in the hotel and restaurant are lovely and always make us feel well looked after. We visit a few times each year and it’s always a wonderful stay. We used to stay at the grand which is gorgeous but we really prefer this hotel now for location, comfort and value for money.
Close to town and very helpful people
Can’t think of anything
Good location. Easy walk to the center. Very helpful staff
Rooms are a bit aged. Not well sound proofed and can hear conversation from other rooms and corridor.
Location good staff attentive
Quiet area for a relaxing stay
Lack of offerings since last stay. Less tea/coffee and welcome treats.
Lovely hotel within easy reach of the attractions of York. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Room was well furnished with a lovely bathroom, bed was comfortable. Our room was facing the road but didn’t find the external noise too bad.
The rooms need better sound installation as you can hear doors being closed, rooms next door and also noise from upstairs room. The complimentary water and snacks were not replenished either.
Breakfast was disappointing. No warm plates so hot food gets cold quickly and hot food was barely warm to start with. Breakfast area also gets quite congested so needs rearranging. We had breakfast at a local cafe one morning which was a lot better and cheaper.
An enjoyable stay just let down by breakfast.
I liked everything overall. I would highlight the excellent cleanliness, the varied and delicious breakfast, and the pleasant scent as soon as you enter the hotel, which makes all the difference. I also loved the treats left in the room, a very special touch. The staff were always very helpful and friendly.
Nothing to complain about
Location was brilliant, hotel was clean and very modern.
Having to leave
The Property’s location within the city centre it’s a great bonus
The bathroom design layout, very awkward
My wife and I have recently returned from a stay at Hotel Indigo York.
The hotel is ideally located to visit the historic city of York being a few minutes walk to the vibrant city centre and it's attractions.
The hotel has its own car park (around a 5 min walk) which is first come, first served and costs £18 which we found convenient.
The hotel itself is fairly modern and clean and every staff member we met was friendly and helpful.
Our room was clean and nicely decorated (York themed) with a good size shower. The bed was a little firm and seemed to be sagging a little in the middle, so is probably ready to be replaced?
A couple of negatives from us; the noise... Our room overlooked the road outside, vehicle noise Inc refuse lorries, busses and construction traffic etc was very noticeable from the early hours.... I think triple glazing on this side of the hotel is needed! The hotel room walls are also very thin, we could hear our neighbours quite clearly. Our air conditioning also randomly switched off in the night making the room quite warm.
Another negative was breakfast... The buffet was barely warm, scrambled eggs looked to be powdered and other items appeared to be poor quality. This was a disappointment as the street outside is home to several eateries offering breakfast!
We would stay at the Indigo again, but wouldn't stay B&B and would request a room away from the road.
