Comfortable for a 1-night stay if you don’t have much luggage.
Pros:

Big bedroom with armchairs and comfortable bed.

Cons:

Steep, narrow stairs - partly without a handrail - to get to the room (particularly difficult to navigate with luggage); noise from garden and car park as staff left between 23:30 and 24:00.

Perfect location, lovely rooms and very dog friendly
Pros:

This hotel is in a fantastic location and very pretty. We were welcomed and the room was spacious, clean and with good facilities. We had a lovely view, massive bed and space for our dog. Our dog was also made to feel very welcome with a gift on arrival and treats throughout the stay. Breakfast was very good too amd we’d definitely return. Fantastic location to explore the Lakes.

Pros:

Beautiful hotel, such lovely staff, we were made to feel so welcome with out little dog. Our room was beautiful. The food in the restaurant was 10/10. Location was fab, we travelled into Kendal town and Windermere whilst we were here, only a short drive from both. will definitely be staying again!

Pros:

This is our 2nd stay here, just as good. Staff are great, food was very good. Room was very clean and comfortable, lovely decor and furnishings. Very dog friendly and exceptional value for money breakfast.
We have stayed in 8 hotels in 8 days and this one was the best overall and value for money.

Pros:

Beautiful room, well presented with a huge bathroom. Staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay. Food in the bar was of a good standard.

Cons:

There is quite a bit of road noise as the hotel Is close to the main junction/roundabout, so vehicles accelerate away from the junction which can be very loud. Curtains in the bedroom could be darker, lined, or there could be black out blinds as the room gets very light very early in the morning.

Pros:

Location superb,we had a wedding 10 minutes from there.Room quite small but that didnt matter,everything you needed was in the room and bathroom.Some lovely touches ,yummy couple of chocolates and biscuits.
Staff were super helpful and breakfast had an abundance of choice which you pay extra for.
Would definately recommend this hotel .

Exceeded our expectations….comfortable large room with good bathroom. Staff lovely.
Pros:

Lovely large room, beautifully decorated. It overlooked the car park (below) but lovely views in the distance. Plenty of parking.Heated towel rail in bathroom a lovely touch….warm towels after showering. Comfortable bed and 2 comfy armchairs. Food in restaurant/ bar was very good with quick service. Staff always polite and helpful. Exceeded our expectations and wouldnt hesitate to stay again.

It was the highlight of our trip!
Pros:

Staff were so welcoming, we totally enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and ambience.
Emma, Lee and all the team were great, very efficient and a credit to making the hotel keep the reputation it is known for.
Breakfast was excellent, as were all the meals we enjoyed... thank you Chef/s!
We will most certainly return to this wonderful hotel and 100% highly recommend.

Loved our stay at The Gateway, look forward to a return visit.
Pros:

The warm welcome was great. All staff were so attentive and are a real credit to The Gateway.
Big shout out to Emma, Lee and Shaun FOH.
The Breakfast was great. The Dinner menu was great with plenty of choice, everything looked and tasted so lovely and nicely presented.
Wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this lovely hotel, we thiroughly enjoyed our stay!

Would recommend!
Pros:

V comfortable rooms, good service and a lovely choice for breakfast and evening meals. In a v convenient location for my travel up to Scotland as well as being close to many parts of the Lake District. I will definitely be back!
