Close to areas of interest and great food options
No fridge or tea coffee facilities in room. Overlooked this when booking but not a major issue as available in common area.
The best thing about this hotel is the common areas for guests to relax. The breakfast room and balcony has books and games and free tea and coffee. We really enjoyed spending time here. We also enjoyed the lobby bar which is a nice place to have a quiet drink with friends. The room was simple and the bed was comfy. The location is central for both the CBD and Northbridge. It is right next to the State Library.
The breakfast was simple fare of mueslie and pastries and breads.
Bed and ensuite were good
Room over William Street made it hard to sleep because of the band playing at the pub opposite. The street cleaning machine started at 4:30 am Sunday was disturbing. No frig and no chair to sit on in the room.
We arrived early so we coukd leave our bags before going to a matinee performance. Our room was ready so the let us check in early.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel had a very welcoming and comfortable vibe. The lolly jar was a nice touch.

The Alex is in a great location, lovely staff and the common areas and rooms are just great. Close to good restaurants and the best of Perth is on your doorstep.
The coffee machine wasn’t working on the common areas.
Place was ok. A bit run down, the bathroom and carpet in rooms. Ok for 1 night

Great location - quick walk to lots of city sights. Friendly, helpful staff - fixed a couple of hiccups so quickly. Lovely modern furnishings throughout.
Room was a bit tinier than expected, especially for more than a couple of nights. More surprised about no coffee facilities in room - just assumed that they would be there. Noise was noticeable but expected due to location.
The breakfast was great and the location was exceptional - just 5 mins around the corner from Perth train station. Close to bars and restaurants. Staff were super helpful throughout my stay.
There isn't much hanging space in the rooms which is OK for short stays.
Definitelly location. Close to restaurants and entertainment - library, museum of WA, cinemas. Free croisants on level 1, care of the reception staff, books all around, record player on ground floor.
