Please note that The Barnstaple Hotel is a busy function hotel and at times has music playing until 01:00 in the function suite. There are times when this can be heard in some garden court and pool view rooms.

Having my breakfast cooked in front of me by the chef. Pleasant staff who were more than happy to help.
The ironing board was to wide to iron my trousers.
Welcome at reception; room was a good size, clean, comfortable, quiet and had a personal atmosphere. Spa and sports facilities excellent. Bar and restaurant also very good. All the staff work as a team and couldnt do enough to make your stay enjoyable.
The location is slightly out of town, but they cannot do anything about that.
With a car it is easily accessible.

Bar was shut at 9:30 pm. Breakfast was unavailable after 9:30am. No facilities available for late arrival guests, but prompt departure at 11am still required.
AC unit in bedroom, portable apoliance after fit, restricted access to bed. It could not be adjusted by remote or locally.
No staff available overnight to assist.
For the price, poor location, restricted time use of facilities, and tiny room even for a premium I do not recommend.
Brend hotels have a monolopy in Barnstaple and are ridiculously priced for what you receive.
Stay here as a last resort.

The beds were very comfortable (the pillows were supportive and firm). The facilities (indoor pool and sauna) were in very good condition and clean. The water temperature was perfect for leisure swim. The breakfast was excellent.
The coffee was very weak, but that's usual in hotels.
