What a wonderful family run hotel. Every detail has been thought through and everything works as it should. Beautiful interior decorations. Close to the Gondola with direct lift access (great after a long day in ski boots) and local ski shop to rent/ return gear. I will definitely be back if I return to Zermatt in the future.
Nothing worth mentioning.
My wife and I very much enjoyed Hotel Berghof as our 'home' in Zermatt, from March 22-29, 2026. We live in NYC and typically plan one 'big' ski vacation each year; for 2026, we chose Zermatt based on several recommendations. Online research revealed a multitude of lodging options, with a wide range of prices. Our priorities were: proximity to the ski lift (specifically, the Zermatt-Furi Matterhorn Express); authentic charm; spacious, well-appointed rooms and bathrooms; spa/pool for après ski; views of the Alps/Matterhorn; good upkeep of the property; value for money (no, this is not an inexpensive hotel, but there are options in Zermatt that cost 3x!). Hotel Berghof exceeded our expectations on all fronts! The booking process through the hotel website was seamless, with helpful followup communications and assistance with train schedules, etc. -- a strong first impression! The hotel had a skis/boot locker room on the ground level, steps away from a private elevator which takes you straight to the ski lift entrance. The architecture and decorations, inside and out, were authentically charming, evoking exactly what it is: a Swiss chalet resort. Our room, a junior suite, was very large, including a sitting room, private balcony, and spacious bathroom with separate tub/shower and two sinks. The spa area--which included two indoor pools (each with an adjacent bubble tub), sauna, tepidarium, steam room, solarium and two massage rooms--exceed our expectations... we used the facilities every day after several hours of 'hard' skiing. From our room and balcony, as well as from several 'common' areas throughout the hotel, we had uninterrupted views of the Matterhorn, probably the most iconic peak in the world... you never get tired of seeing it! All areas of the property were impeccably maintained. Our stay included a delicious breakfast every morning, served 'buffet style' (with an option for special orders) and offering a wide variety of choices, enhanced by a very attentive staff. This is clearly a family-run business, and it shows given their attention to detail, genuine concern for guest satisfaction, and extremely friendly handling of all questions and requests. Given all this, we felt we received great value for our money... and enthusiastically recommend the hotel to couples or families looking for a memorable lodging experience in a magical destination!
Location, lift to the Matterhorn ski lift, spa, rooms
I would appreciate a bit more choice of cooked food for breakfast. So far only eggs are offered.
Super conviviale, belle piscine, charmant hôtel chalet, personnel très sympa

The Regina family, Franz Lerjen-Perren and the lovely staff hosted us with such warm hospitality. The hotel is simply phenomenal and well above any expectations we had. The location is superb, with private access to the Matterhorn Glacier Express gondolas (via private access elevator, steps from the private ski room). The rooms are terrific, comfortable and luxurious. The Swiss charm, decor and warmth are experienced throughout the hotel at every turn. We had the most glorious unobstructed view of the Matterhorn, as do most rooms. The pool, wellness and spa centre is a real treat and so needed after a full day of activities. The breakfast is classic continental with hot orders upon request. The restaurant and bar have may snug areas that allow a sense of real comfort and relaxation. One really must see and experience for yourself, as nothing I can say will truly represent what awaits you. We had no problems accessing the town centre via a lovely 10-15 scenic walk. Thank you to all for a wonderful stay - we will certainly return as often as possible!

We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Berghof Zermatt. It was our first visit to Zermatt and the hotel's location was extremely convenient to the Tram and Gondola systems feeding to all ski pistes (both the Switzerland and Italian sides). The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and very attentive to our needs. We initially had trouble directly placing lunch reservations at mountain restaurants and asked the Berghof Staff for assistance. Where we failed, they succeeded and were able to book us lunch reservations for every day of our ski trip. Our room was nicely decorated and felt like a quintessential Swiss Chalet. Room service was excellent as was the wait staff in the hotel restaurant. The food at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. As for noise levels, our room was very quiet and peaceful, much better than many other ski resort hotels that we have stayed in the past. We will certainly be back to visit Zermatt again and will book at the Berghof for that future visit.
The view and staff could not have been better. Everyone so kind and helpful and the view beautiful .
I would like a coffee maker in the room as to have coffee first thing while getting up for the day. Also a small fridge would be a nice addition.
hotel zelf
A great location, amazing people and wonderful food and service. Loved the hotel shuttle from and to the train station. A great and cozy lobby with board games and comfortable seating for a pre-dinner game, and/or a drink.
