Nice room, little dated but clean
Lack of air conditioning
Receptionist at Check in was pleasant, nothing else
No air condition in the room, fan in room but didn't work. Food was disappointing, no real choice and expensive for what it was. had to order food in t lunch time as they did not serve food. overall a really disappointing visit, so much so I didn't stay for the 2nd night booked and choose to drive home rather than spend another night at this hotel

No aircon in the room. Would normally have been fine but we stayed on the hottest May Day ever!

Large event staying there, took over the whole place, restaurant was shut as the group had exclusive use.
Lift wasn’t working and I was on the 3rd floor. Hottest day of the year and the roof bedrooms were boiling hot only little velux windows that hardly open.
Location to where we needed to be. Excellent value.
Not the hotels fault but our room was directly facing into the sun. Starting there during a heatwave meant our room was like a sauna and even when the sun had set and the window was open it was still very very warm. No need for the hotel to have air conditioning for the odd spell of warm weather but it was just very very warm in there. So much so we toyed with the idea of asking reception if there was an alternative room but didn’t want to make a fuss so put up with it.
Location was fine. Breakfast was very good - lots of choice. Staff were very helpful and nice.
The hotel looked a little run down. Our room had wallpaper coming off the wall and had no picture(s) on the big plain grey wall. The outside area looked a little unkempt but workmen were cutting the grass when we left.
Room was big, bed and pillows comfy. The bathroom was spotless.
Staff are absolutely lovely in all areas of the hotel.

Beautiful location inside and out, surrounding a lovely peaceful woodland area around the whole stunning hotel building.
My king double room exceeded my expectation, spotlessly clean in all areas with an immaculate bathroom. The room was spacious enough & as photos, with everything working in perfect order too!
The staff throughout the hotel were extremely friendly, competent & very helpful with anything needed over my two nights stay. Even with a great tip for my train station journey route home before my departure!
The breakfast quality & variety during the morning was superb, with regular top ups from staff, who were all also consistently attentive to the guests needs.
My one evening meal that I was around for was most enjoyable & of a great standard and quality.
Thanking Patricia especially at reception who was present more within my stay, making me feel comfortable & secure.
Great care & customer service from everyone! I remain very grateful to of stayed at the woodland at the end of April 2026 & I would definitely return when I can.
There wasn’t anything to dislike.
