The Royal Duchy Hotel

The Royal Duchy Hotel is a stunning property. I loved the "beachy" vibe of our hotel room and the incredible views. The daily biscuits were delicious and such a nice surprise. There were lots of beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces to have a bite to eat, socialize, have a cocktail or enjoy the view. I enjoyed our daily breakfast at the hotel-there were plenty of options and the food was fantastic along with the service.

I stayed with my son for my daughter’s graduation. I was impressed with every aspect of this hotel. My only small quibble was that someone had charged a drink to my room but as I explained it couldn’t possibly have been me as I was at my daughter’s graduation at the time it was done. It was instantly removed with an apology. All in all a delightful stay.

Stayed 2 nights with friends, staff were all very helpful, breakfast was great....and the cream tea !

Incredible location, whole experience was definitely 5 star, including service and dining. Room was extremely hot, despite a fan, but weather was exceptional!

Yet another great stay in a favourite hotel. We chose the castle view room, which provides a lovely panorama to wake to.
Lovely position on the sea front, with attentive service and comfortable and clean rooms.

Very good choice on breakfast menu.
Exceptional cleanliness.
Staff were very efficient and friendly.
Close to places of interest etc.
Easy walk into town.

Really lovely hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Everybody spoke as you walked past them. Room was excellent only thing that could have made it better would be an extractor fan in bathroom and air con would be good as well. However the bathroom window was open and there was a fan in room. Would definitely return

I went to this hotel with a coach party and this hotel is not your typical coach party hotel. It is a wonderful hotel and we were treated as 'normal' guests. The food in the dining room was exceptional and the scones in the afternoon tea were the best I've had. All the rooms are very clean and swimming in the pool was very relaxing. There are sun loungers on the front lawn overlooking the sea which I took advantage of. The only small gripe I had was the fact that I had paid extra to upgrade to a double room and you could not say it was. There was no way 2 people could sleep comfortably in the bed it was only a three quarter bed. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would be happy to return.

We stayed two days at the hotel.
Really overpriced for an average to mediocre quality. Price should be half if not less. Rooms are hot without air conditioning. No elevator and steep stairs. Service painful: give time slot for meals including breakfast. Breakfast takes an hour. Food correct but nothing really good. Everything needs to be paid in advance. Car park full.
Location is second class, far from the city and from the sea (several kilometers).
The unpleasant impression to be abused on everything.
There are so many charming hotels and houses. Avoid this one !

We stayed at the Royal Duchy at the end of June 2026
The location is excellent to use as a base to visit the surrounding area, we visited Flushing on the way down to Falmouth then had a lovely afternoon at the hotel using the smimming pool and relaxing on the front lawn with drinks.
We then walked into Falmouth the following day at took a ferry to St Mawes in the morning and returned to Falmouth in the afternoon and went round the local independant shops in the town centre.
The service and the food was excellent in the restaurant i would highly recommend a stay
Then back to the hotel for a swim before dinner in the evening

Staff were fantastic, Polite and helpful. In particular the young woman at breakfast who couldn’t have been more cheerful or helpful. Very good pool and sauna.

Un vrai hôtel 4 étoiles, avec un service, des parties communes et des prestations d’excellent niveau. Le tout pour le prix de B&B approximatifs dont les descriptions ampoulées n’offrent qu’une très lointaine ressemblance avec la réalité. Merci !

Staff brilliant, breakfast superb

I should start by saying my wife and I had only just arrived when I took unwell. The hotel was pretty good about it and we left for home the following day and only charged additionally for 1 night's D,B&B. The charge was £391.00 which was for an inland facing room. Had I felt better, I might have queried why it was described as "inland facing" when all we could see were the backs of buildings but no countryside. I should also add that only 1 picture adorned the room. For that amount of money, I would have expected something better.
Having just come from 3 nights at another of the Brend Group's hotels, the Carlyon Bay hotel, the change was rather dramatic.
