Hotel in commercial area
Pros:

Very good staff. It is located in commercial area. Nothing to do for the tourist after 6 pm. Not for tourism.

Séjour agréable et pratique
Pros:

Summary of stay
Pros:

Overall stay was fine but to go to room(s) the corridor is open to the outside so it was hot, humud and exposed to mosquitoes etc.
The breakfast was poor in quality but sufficent.

Great place to stay! Clean, Comfy, Professionalish
Pros:

While the entrance is tucked into a little alley that seems creepy at night, it is actually quite a safe area (in my experience, and I am a 34 yr woman who did a small bit of walking nearby at night). They have 24 hr security that will gladly run and get a cab for you (only use orange taxis) and help you negotiate a fair price. There is also a man named Hamidou who can help you get whatever you need during your stay, whether that is finding the best place to eat local (Allocodromo in Cocody) or other African food (Nigerian in Treciaville) or even finding someone to help you with your emergency manicure because you didn't have time to fix that before you came. He also sells beautiful woodwork and can get tailored Ivoirian traditional dress for you.

Anyways, the hotel itself is nice and clean. Everyone in the restaurant and bar area are super professional and polite and the restaurant is open to helping you with any dietary restrictions you may have. The lobby is comfortable with plenty of seating and a TV available. The internet in the lobby is decent, at least enough to check email. Don't expect that in your room, though.

The reception staff is very friendly and helpful. I did have some trouble with one of my bookings (Otels.com). Because the payment didn't go through, I was hounded by the manager for 3 days, even after I provided a phone#. I ended up having to call myself to resolve.

Overall a comfortable stay, excellent food, and friendly service. Can't wait to go back!

Renovated room, good internet and lake view
Pros:

1 night only, nice lake view, breakfast was OK but could be better.
Old building but inside renovated
Very good Internet speed
Airport transport is announced but it is it not said that is fix times not necessarily convenient. It should be more transparent

Un bon hôtel aux prestations de qualité
Pros:

Pros:

Despite our reservation was made via expedia and the hotel was aware of it, they refused to apply the fares shown on expedia. They also refused to be paid in USD as per our reservation and propsed and exchange rate for the local currency far above the market rate. The manager was impolite and kicked out in fron of every body a couple of tourist who made their booking online and tried to use his phone to call expedia. We checked out after one night of stay.

Pros:

It's located in a good for slightly hidden corner between the cities of Plateau and Trenchville. Staff was professional. Checking was easy. I did not get a chance to explore the rest of the hotel like their lounge or breakfast. I hope to do that some other time in the near future. Overall, the hotel will get a 3.8-4 stars from me.

Good value in an expensive city
Pros:

The rooms are nice and th A/C is a life saver. Internet worked much better this time around. However, breakfast could be improved - the Coffee in particular tastes like hot water. So sad.

Pros:

Impossible to work there because of extremely bad wifi connection. Toilet has a terrible smell. Breakfast was horrible, low graded and cheap.
You get very little for your money at Grand Hotel Abidjan.

If you can, avoid it.
Pros:

Worst service ever. I got overbooked which already barely acceptable with current technologies. Hence, if hotel wants to take risk with overbooking, it's its responsibility to make it right for its customers...and sending its customers to a CREEPY second zone (costing 30% less than the paid price) is just not acceptable.

The manager didn't even care to meet me and discuss the situation.

Good centrally located mid range hotel
Pros:

I was generally very satisfied with my stay at this hotel. On arrival at Abidjan airport i had a lengthy wait
at immigration and was worried that the hotel shuttle would not wait for me. However when i exited i was relieved to see someone waiting for me with my name written on a board. When i checked in late at night the reception were friendly and allocated me a nice room with a view of the lagoon.
The room was clean and recently renovated. Breakfast was good with plenty of fresh local fruit and a selection of fresh rolls and pastries (please note it is not normal to have full cooked breakfast in this part of the world so don't expect it). I also had a good evening meal (fish curry) in the restaurant.
The only downside is that there are not any restaurants close to the hotel for dinner. The surrounding streets are also deserted at night so i wouldn't want to venture out on foot.
The hotel, built in 1956, was one of the first hotels in Abidjan. Although it has recently been fully renovated, it has a character that the big chain hotels lack.

Beware the double payment
Pros:

The hotel manager told me to pay in cash because they do not accept credit cards. I said repeatedly that I paid through Hotels.com, but the hotel staff kept the same explanation, and so in the end, I had to pay in cash. Not surprisingly, payment was also made via Hotels.com, so I actually paid twice. I tried to get the refund, but after almost a week, nothing has been done. If you do book this hotel, be tight and do not pay the hotel as they do receive payment through Hotels.com
