Excellent b&b
Pros:

The room was nice and clean throughout, good selection of tea/ coffee available and the beds were comfortable. Good gluten free toast too at breakfast!

Cons:

Only small thing that could’ve been better would be to add some gluten free veggie sausages for breakfast.

Disappointing stay—beautiful building, but let down by noise and service
Pros:

Beautiful old building in a friendly town, shame the day staff weren't the same.

Cons:

We recently stayed here for one night ahead of a trip to the NEC. I don’t normally write negative reviews or complaints, but our experience was so disruptive that I felt it important to share.

On arrival, the reception team was very warm and thoughtfully offered us a room change, as a wedding was taking place directly below our original room. While we appreciated the gesture, it would have been helpful to be notified about the wedding prior to arrival. Our new room was lovely, but with no air conditioning (understandable given the age of the building), it desperately needed an electric fan and bottled water. Because the window had to remain open for air, we had a direct, awkward view down onto the wedding guests, and by late evening, the DJ volume became overwhelmingly loud and this comes from 2 rock music lovers who often attend gigs and festivals. You dont expect it that loud at a hotel stay. We decided to head out to explore the town and enjoyed a lovely chip shop dinner by the Shropshire Union Canal.

Unfortunately, the issues started when we returned. The music blasted until midnight, and the heat in the room was unbearable. We didn't feel complaining at the time as we did not want to ruin that brides big day. To make matters worse, as soon as the music stopped, staff spent the next few hours loudly moving furniture to pack down and reset for another wedding the next day. We only managed about an hour of sleep, which was a terrible start to a long day ahead at Gardeners' World Live.

Breakfast was another letdown. We chose the Red Lion specifically because breakfast started at 7:00am, allowing us to leave by our strict 7:30am deadline. After confirming this with reception at 7:00am, we realised 10 minutes later that our order hadn't even been sent to the kitchen. We had to chase the staff and downgrade our order to a bacon sandwich just to save time. When it finally arrived at 7:25am, the bacon was barely cooked.

I was visiting family and location of hotel was perfect and I will most definitely use them again.
Pros:

My room was perfectly clean.
Breakfast was a bit on the heavy side for me and I would have preferred slice of cold meat and cheese rather than cooked breakfast. However, the food going out to other guests having breakfast looked good and judging by the empty plates tasty.
Staff were lovely.

Cons:

The room was extremely hot due to high temperatures. The hotel did their best by supplying a table style fan in room which was okay if you were right beside it!
