The Alana Yogyakarta Hotel and Convention Center

I stayed here as a solo traveler (booked via Tiket.com). While my second night was pleasant, first night was ok. This property has immense potential, but the execution in service—specifically F&B and gym management—needs urgent attention.
The Pros: Design & Comfort
• The Room: Absolutely enormous. It felt premium, spacious, and incredibly comfortable.
• The Bathroom: I loved the standing shower design with the glass and curtain.
• Water Pressure: Incredible. Honestly, this is the best water pressure I’ve experienced in an Indonesian hotel, second only to the Four Seasons Jakarta.
• The Pool: Impressive in size and perfectly maintained. The temperature was wonderful, and the chemical balance felt spot-on and gentle.
• The Team: The staff is young, wonderful, and mostly very helpful. They clearly have the right heart for hospitality.
The Cons: F&B & Gym Maintenance
The "software" side of the F&B department is where the experience falters. It feels like the staff lacks fundamental product knowledge.
• Knowledge Gap: When I asked for sparkling water, I was offered a Sprite. When I tried to order something sweet (which I usually avoid for my diet), it was difficult to communicate this. There seems to be a minimal understanding of menu ingredients.
• Availability: Many mixed juices were unavailable, yet they were kept on display as if they were fresh.
• Management Follow-up: While the F&B Manager was professional and invited me to another restaurant, the execution was poor. They never asked for my contact details and offered a restrictive time slot, so I ended up not going.
The Gym: For a hotel with 264 rooms, the gym is small and lacks basic standards.
• Safety: They provide glass cups instead of paper/plastic, which is dangerous in a workout area.
• Cleanliness: There are no wipe tissues, rubbish bins, or baskets for used towels. Housekeeping doesn't seem to know how to clean the machines; the area was messy and lacked yoga mats.
Final Verdict
The physical hotel is stunning, and the water pressure is a dream. If management invests in staff training and modernizes gym standards, this would easily be a top-tier experience. For now, it is a "great room, confusing service" stay. On a positive note, the parking is very well-maintained

The connection to the conference area was incredible as well as the facilities in general. The staff was super helpful and nice.

We stayed for 10nights in the presidential suite. On the top floor. The room was spotless and well set out. it’s on the same floor as the executive lounge, which is open 3-7pm each day with snacks, coffee, tea and juices.

The staff were all welcoming and friendly, and would always offer to help with anything we needed.

The food selection at breakfast was great and always fresh. Room service although a limited selection was good and delivered hot n fresh!

We didn’t use the swimming pool, but there are also light meals that can be ordered by a telephone in the pool area.

The hotel is in an easy location to reach and not too far from the town centre. There are many small cafes nearby too, if you wish to try them out.

Parking was easy, and sometimes the staff would park the car for us. No extra charges.

We will definitely stay here again on our return visit to Jogja.
