Staff is really helpful, the room is clean. Plus it's very close to Jefferson Station and several grocery stores.
None
Everything went very smoothly. Easy check-in and check-out. Enjoyed the complementary happy hour wine. Great experience. Convenient location & comfortable. Staff was above & beyond. Room was very comfortable though guests need to appreciate a dated, comfort standard. This is an interesting property with lots of history to embrace.
The inn was unique and the location was great. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The food was very good.
Parking was expensive and not easy to find. They have an agreement with a parking garage a few blocks away but we never did get that discount.
The employees were wonderful!
Dated
The hotel appeared well kept and clean.
The bed was too hard for my taste.
Location
Old and tired room. Poor AC. No blackout curtains. Depressing breakfast room.
The location and the friendly staff. Continental-plus breakfast was included.
Building and floors have seen their better days. Somewhat cramped bathroom.
Location - excellently positioned in the neighborhood with great restaurants and bars
Atmosphere - a bit dated looking with decor but they do try to make occasional appearance upgrades; very slow elevator. We ended up using the stairs for all trips but for the check in.
Rooms - okay for a place to drop your luggage, have fun in town, and sleep. Again, the rooms are a bit dated with some issues like a toilet lever that needs a special touch in a certain way to flush or the door being moody about opening and closing on the first, second (sometimes 3rd) try. The bathroom is very narrow especially by the sink and toilet.
Breakfast - continental breads, cereals, beverages... downstairs 7 - 10 am each day and evening gathering with wine and snacks
Check in and out - seamless and efficient

While the hotel promotes its historic charm and quaint atmosphere, the property appears poorly maintained and in need of significant updates.
The bathroom grout and shower head were discolored and dirty, with noticeable hard water buildup. In the room, paint was peeling from the walls and the light fixtures showed signs of rust. The stairwell also had visible holes in the walls, further contributing to the worn appearance.
The complimentary breakfast was limited and lacked hot entrée options. Available items included hard-boiled eggs, waffles, toast, oatmeal packets, juice, coffee, and a hot water dispenser, but there was no fresh fruit or other substantial hot breakfast offerings.
The bathroom was quite small and lacked counter space or other surfaces for toiletries and personal items. The room also did not have a full-length mirror, which may be inconvenient for some travelers. Additionally, there was no refrigerator in the room. Guests needing refrigeration for food or beverages had to leave items with the front desk, which was inconvenient.
The staff were friendly and accommodating, but overall the hotel would benefit from a deep cleaning and much-needed renovations to better reflect the experience it advertises.
For the first three nights, my primary complaint was the very weak water pressure.
On the fourth night, I returned to the hotel to find a cockroach on the bed. I reported to the front desk, who offered me a different room. I had to inspect all of my belongings and move them to a different room between 11pm and midnight, and had to inspect the new room. I got very little sleep and had a long flight the next day. I remain paranoid I may have brought insects back in my luggage. (As proof, I have included in this review a photo of a cockroach under an Alexander Inn branded glass, on top of an Alexander Inn branded drinks coaster - I would prefer not to have to share this, but the situation was not dealt with appropriately).
When I checked out the next morning, I asked to speak to management, but was told they were not present (at 11am on a Monday). I was offered a $50 partial refund off one night of my stay (I paid over $230 a night for four nights). The fact that the response to vermin in the room is a discount of less than 25% of one night suggests the hotel either do not care about cleanliness, or this happens a lot and they can't afford all the refunds.
Do not stay here, it is not worth the stress. The price is low, but prioritise the peace of mind of staying somewhere clean and hygienic, which takes pest control seriously and responds appropriately and apologetically puts things right when this fails.
The staff was pretty nice and pleasant
My room was very misrepresented the pictures are definitely retouched online and it does not look like that in person at all. The carpet is frayed and worn the door has water damage and is splitting and peeling at the bottom the room did not smell fresh there was hair on the baseboard of my bed all of the corners were old and raggedy. Definitely not worth $250 a night. This is something I would not have known until I entered the room in person. I prepaid for the room for 3 nights and couldn't get my money refunded even after I checked out after one night. I did not feel comfortable enough to stay there an extra two nights so that was definitely a waste of money I'm very disappointed at that. The staff kept on stating the policy that I prepaid and I chose a not refundable option. But I think that should have been voided since the room was not up to standards. They did give me back $100 but I still basically paid for two nights for nothing. Please don't be deceived by the pleasant looking hotel in the pictures they are filtered. I have true pictures I will post so you know what you're actually getting. If my room was only about 100 through $150 a night it wouldn't be as bad but for the price definitely not worth it. Also the whole bathroom is a shower floor if you know what I mean. I hate that its disgusting. That made the whole bathroom smell wet and musty all night which also made my room smell that way. That explains the Warped water damaged bathroom door
This seems very much like a boutique hotel to us, which is what we were expecting. The room was comfortable, clean, and wonderfully located for our visit to Philadelphia. The only negatives that I would mention are that the air conditioning made the room feel very cool to us. (in fairness to the hotel, I could have asked for additional covers for the bed, but I did not) and we thought that the breakfast was somewhat underwhelming. However, I should add that the complementary wine and snacks at 5 PM on the day we arrived were very welcome, and the young host was extremely congenial. We would definitely stay there again..
