Comfortable and convenient to the Convention center
The location was GREAT! Really enjoyed the social hour with complimentary wine and other food items. The free breakfast was also a plus.
The hallways were small; however it did add to the boutique flair of the hotel.
Beautifully decorated small hotel. Location was great. Everywhere was within 20 minutes of walk. The neighborhood felt safe to a girl on solo trip. The social hours were great, and I enjoyed a great conversation with another guest. Staff were all friendly and helpful!
There was a mouse in the first room I stayed in, but the staff changed my room immediately after. I booked a deluxe queen room for its two windows, but the second room I got had one window blocked by the wall of the next building. The chair wasn't the most comfortable and it was hard to sit for long hours. Beware if you're on a business trip.
Comfortable room. Good location very handy for city centre. The free cheese and wine in the evening was a nice touch and a good way to meet people. Very nice staff.
Great location with easy access to center city. Fair value for the room too. Close to restaurants and topped off by a truly fantastic staff. If that's what you're going for, choose this hotel.
Staff was amazing. Very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area.

I recently stayed at the Alexander Inn in Philadelphia for 2 nights while traveling with my baby, and overall I had a very positive experience.
The hotel’s location is excellent—very close to Rittenhouse Square and within walking distance of many major attractions, restaurants, and shops. It’s a great base if you want to explore the city on foot.
I arrived quite late (around 10:30 PM) and initially checked into the room I had booked, but it was extremely small. Traveling with a baby meant I had a stroller and a crib, and there simply wasn’t enough space to fit everything. I was honestly a bit shocked at first. However, the front desk staff handled the situation incredibly well. The woman at the front desk went above and beyond to help me, even though the hotel was almost fully booked. She immediately moved me to a larger room so we could comfortably fit the stroller and crib, but mentioned that I might need to switch rooms again the next day depending on availability.
The next morning, the gentleman at the front desk was also extremely friendly and helpful. I went out for a walk with the baby and came back just before noon, as they had kindly extended my checkout time to make things easier. With the manager’s authorization, they allowed me to stay in the same larger room instead of moving again, which made the stay much smoother.
I stayed in a two-twin room that was surprisingly spacious, with beautiful French windows overlooking the main street. Because it’s a busy street, there was some car noise at night, but I had a white noise machine with me and that helped a lot.
The room itself had a decent-sized bathroom with a tub/shower, a small fridge, and useful touches like a USB plug in the alarm clock and plenty of lighting. While the hotel itself is not newly renovated, the rooms were clean, and both the bed sheets and towels were fresh.
They also offer a social hour from 5–7 PM (similar to a happy hour), which I didn’t attend, and a complimentary breakfast that was quite decent—hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea, and a waffle machine. Everything was clean and well maintained.
For parking, I used SpotHero and parked in a garage about two blocks away, which ended up being the most affordable option in the area.
One thing that could definitely use improvement is the hallways—they feel a bit outdated and could benefit from a renovation.
Overall, if you’re looking for a great location at a reasonable price, with genuinely accommodating and friendly staff, Alexander Inn is a solid option.
Quaint almost "Bed and Breakfast" Midtown Hotel with a nice personal touch and still a thrifty Ben Franklin great deal!
The location is great. The room was really nice and I loved all the windows.
Honestly a wine and snacks social hour every afternoon… what more could you want? The building is a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. We loved the neighborhood and it was an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go.
The room ran pretty warm, but we were able to balance it out with AC/open windows. Felt a little energy inefficient but we were comfortable.
Fantastic location very close to the theater district, great walkable neighborhood, and close to all the tourist sites.
The staff was fantastic. Every person we spoke to was kind, considerate, and helpful. We arrived later than we intended to because of traffic and we were not able to get dinner before our plans and having the nightly refreshments was a fantastic bonus.
The room was very small, but that is to be expected for the style of hotel. Extremely clean and comfortable for just the two of us. The bathroom is a little tight, but the shower was good sized. It was really fun to embrace city-style living for the weekend.
Breakfast was fine with an assortment of breads and pastries and a few other things. The coffee was good. There is also an independent coffee shop right across the street, but we didn’t pop in.
This hotel was the perfect location for our exploration of this part of Philadelphia. We we going to a show at the Academy of Music and needed a place to sleep the night. The Alexander Inn was less than a 10 minute walk from the Academy of Music, so we decided to stay there. We couldn't have chosen better. We had some time before the show, so we decided to explore the city. The Alexander Inn was in walking distance from Independence Hall, City Hall, Chinatown and Penn's Landing.
You could tell the building the hotel was in was old, but it didn't feel outdated, it felt historic. We had an end room overlooking Spruce St. and we could see all the way to City Hall from our window. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and they even left us a card, water and snacks upon arrival. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and body wash.
They had an evening social from 5pm to 7pm with complimentary cheese and crackers, soup and fruit. The breakfast in the morning was in the same room and was continental with bagels, toast, yogurt, a waffle maker, coffee, and cereal.
I'd highly recommend The Alexander Inn for your Philadelphia stay. It's not a big fancy chain hotel, instead it's charming and has character and the location is perfect.
My husband and I love staying at Alexander Inn! Everyone there is very welcoming, and the Social Hour was a surprise bonus! The location is also very convenient to the culture and history of the city.

Breakfast was a nice surprise as was the social hour. The location was exceptional. The people were very nice. The room was large and clean.
The room was a bit dated as far as the bathroom etc. Lean into the retro aspect!
