Professional property host/manager
Ho dovuto cambiare camera con un amico uomo perché l hotel era privo di ospiti ed una donna sola non poteva certo soggiornare.

Non lo consiglio
A nice place that might need a little work on the details. Unfortunately the pool was out of commission/being renovated and by the looks of it for quite a while.
Very nice and helpful staff that gladly answered questions and helped out to make our stay and continuing journey as good as possible.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Governor's Gargula. We received excellent service from the staff and the food was exceptional. The hotel is located about 6 Km outside of Dambulla and used this hotel as a base to visit many of the sites in the area (Dambula Caves, Sigiriya (Lion's) Rock, and Ruins of Polonnaruwala). Not really walkable to anywhere but most of these sites have to be driven to anyway.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
At first the hotel seemed to still be under construction (they are building a new expansion building). There was no one to receive and check us in. We were hesitating and I went to double check the cancellation policy. I was about to change hotels. But later the Hotel manager/room service/waiter came out and he was very helpful, and went out of the way to accommodate us; my friend wanted coconut water which wasn't on the menu of drinks, but the manager managed to get one and bring it to us.
The part of the property that is built is very beautiful and with a nice swimming pool, river views and manicured gardens. The room was simple. Our biggest complaint is that the air conditioner did not work well at all, and kept dripping water the whole time. 4 towels and a call to the manager to help clean and deal with the problem didn't help and by the morning there was a pool of water in front of the bed. As a precaution the manager moved the TV from its place, so watching television was not an option that night. I think the fact that there are no glass windows only wooden shutters leeks the hot air into the room and creates the condensation.
The food was tasty, but ordering food is funny. We have to order one meal in advance; upon arrival we ordered dinner to be served 6 hours later and during dinner we ordered breakfast for the next day. we also had to specify the time we wanted to eat. The hotel room we booked was full board so all the meals were included.
