Gorgeous grounds, vineyard and sculpture. Beautiful hotel. The staff was welcoming. The chef prepared delicious breakfasts-with lots of variety and everything was so fresh. Added bonus, one of the top 50 restaurants in the world is on the property. And there is a wine tasting room. Excellent all around. Would love to go back.
What a beautiful Estate. We enjoyed every minute. The Oak cottage is beautiful, clean and comfortable, it has everything what you can wish for. The staff is friendly and helpful. The gardens and art are amazing.
We stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary, and it was the best spot for a celebration.
Cosy, luxurious, and decadent.
We had the most amazing day, morning coffee followed by spa treatments for both my wife and I, wine tasting then a wonderful lunch, while the rain battered down we totally loved our day at the resort - will recommend and look forward to coming back.
We cannot say enough good things about this property. It is absolutely spectacular. The staff is top notch. Specifically, Zim and Marcus went above and beyond to make our stay special. They arranged for an anniversary celebration for us, which was terrific. The breakfast is very good, and offers a lot of choices. We will return!
I enjoyed my wine tasting at Leeu but was a bit disappointed by lunch - they committed the cardinal sin, and served a totally flavourless curry! It was so dull I left half of it unfinished. The hotel and grounds look quite nice, but for a lunch stop I can't really recommend it.
An excellent and polished hotel. A lot of time and effort has gone into making this hotel one of the best in the Winelands. We had a great stay in February 2025 and would highly recommend it.
1. Rooms: very comfortable, luxurious and well thought out. Our room had a lovely balcony looking over the valley, which we really enjoyed using at the end of each day. One minor point - we would suggest the hotel includes some form of music device in the room; we were quite surprised there wasn't a sound system.
2. Food: we didnt eat at La Petite Colombe (in the hotel grounds), but there main hotel restaurant was very good. It has a lovely terrace for breakfast and lunch, and a varied menu which was delivered well.
3. Pool/ Spa: pool and spa were excellent. The pool is right on the edge of the vineyards with a lovely view. The Spa just above it and provides a great range of treatments. One minor point - there were at times a shortage of umbrellas, which in the late afternoon can be problematic if the pool area is full given the lack of natural shade. Suggest the hotel gives each pair of sunloungers an umbrella to address this.
4. Location: great location for exploring Franschhoek which is just down the road. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle in to town each evening.
5. Service: very good. Everyone knows you by name and really tries to make your stay as great as possible.
An absolute gem! Beautiful location, exquisite accommodation, fabulous food. The attention to detail is immediately obvious and the pride of the estate staff is infectious. I couldn't recommend this piece of paradise more highly. Lynn, as our host and event organizer, was next level. Thank you Leeu, for an unforgettable experience.
A wonderful peaceful place to spend a couple of days recharging from busy lives .Our family stayed in the villa called MAX HOUSE which whilst expensive is large and very beautifully appointed.
The service here is impeccable we have dietary restrictions and they could not have done more .
We did not enjoy the food at breakfast and that service is spotty ..but other than that I would highly recommend splurging if you are in the Franschhoek area .
The grounds -flowers and statues in the Leeu Estates are positively breathtaking.
We stayed at Leeu Hotel for my birthday weekend. We chose the best room in the hotel, we were told it had the best view. Little did we know the view was of the pool , surrounded by all the other guests. Absolutely no privacy! The coffee machine and the kettle were kept at the bottom of a wooden cupboard, floor level and extremely hard to reach and the milk frother smelt of spoilt milk. The carpet looked old and was torn at the edge..so much for a 4,7 star rating. Absolutely disappointing.
Spacious and very comfortable rooms in a delightful property. Excellent staff, if a little too formal / deferential at times. Only thing I can score it down for is attention to detail on housekeeping -teapot and cup not cleaned away one day. Stairs and hall carpet needs a vacuum. Would recommend especially for the tranquility.
A lovely property enhanced by a team of very professional and approachable team.
Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling too well on arrival, the team quietly and seamlessly were proactive in anticipating my needs. The hot water bottle was appreciated and comforting..thank you!
My suite and most especially the terrace was beautiful and extremely well appointed.
The restaurant team were attentive yet not overbearing.
I enjoyed my three days at the property and look forward to my return visit.
The experience of everything the Leeu Estate has to offer should not be overlooked!
Enjoy…
I was overcharged for nuts and olives at the wine bar. Usually, when you order wine at the bar, it comes with nuts and olives as a complementary item, but we found out after dinner I was charged 100 Ren for the olives and 70 Ren for the nuts. However, we are the in-house guests of the Leeu House, I found this is unfair to the guests. Leeu Estates is such an elegant and prestige estate in the Franschhoek region but this leave a bad taste in my travel experience.
The views from the restaurant is spectacular - From the moment we made a reservation with Reeva-Joy, everything was just perfect - the service from our waiter, Tinashe was excellent - the food and personal service from the chef, left a lasting impression - The duty manager, Abongile was sttentive, yet never intrusive - this restaurant is a must visit, when in Franschhoek - Anastacia at the wine tasting venue, was just so great - will defintely return.
The grounds with some sculptures dotted around were worthy of a walk and there was a small, and cool 😉, pool with a few sunbeds.
Our room, a Deluxe in The Manor House, was spacious with a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and with good linens and towels. There was a lovely welcome card and bottle of wine in the room upon our arrival.
We stayed here for three nights, went out during the day, and spent the evenings/dinner in the hotel Dining Room.
Breakfast was a mix of Continental buffet and hot options; we only ate from the buffet as we were heading out for lunch in various vineyards each day.
We had pre-dinner drinks in the bar, which was a slight challenge due to lack of service and staff knowledge. There was also no atmosphere here or in the attached lounge. Our first night was cool so there was a fire lit which helped.
We had two courses for two dinners; unfortunately the menu didn’t change limiting my (non-meat eating) options. On our last night we ordered just the cheese and charcuterie plates which were more than adequate after a large lunch out.
The staff were friendly, but service was a little random from the bar to the Dining Room and pool area
We had a 90mins massage each in the Spa and these were excellent. .
We had a US$100 voucher included with our booking, but unlike other hotels which offer this, this was only for a meal in their restaurant (excluding drinks). Oh well.
Our first stay at Leeu estates did not disappoint. We have stayed at several other properties in the area and this one just sneaks to the prime position, as our new favourite.
Very peaceful, luxurious, great service, wonderful dining options, fabulous rooms and amenities. Staff were excellent and couldn’t have been more helpful.
The grounds are immaculate and the views of the mountains and the surrounding area, really do make for a wonderful backdrop for a peaceful stay. We thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the sculptures around the grounds- fab!
It is a little way out of town. So you will need to take the shuttles that run into town at set times. Or pay for a taxi. Their partner hotels in the town itself are very accommodating, should you need to drop by and use their facilities as well.
Spa is lovely. And the gym well equipped. The on premise art gallery is worth a visit. And we had a wine tasting included in our stay, which was a nice touch.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Lots of options. And again, service was very on point.
We will definitely be back.
Our experience at Leeu Estates was absolutely delightful! The tranquil atmosphere and serene surroundings created the perfect environment for relaxation. The property boasts amazing gardens, vineyrads and a serene pool. Additionally, the staff were among the nicest we have encountered, always attentive and eager to ensure that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. The culinary experience at Leeu Estates was outstanding, with amazing fresh food.
We appreciated the convenience of the free shuttles to Franschhoek city, which made exploring the area effortless. Overall, Leeu Estates exceeded our expectations in every way, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a tranquil, luxurious, and gastronomic getaway in Franschhoek.
This Hotel is phenominal in so many ways. The main house (where we stayed) was small enough to be intimate but had great presence as well. The cottages (I only saw from outside) looked inticing. The grounds are simply spectacular. From vineyards, to herb/vegetable plots to walled gardens were breathtaking. The grounds are littered with sculptures that are great pieces of art. Customer service and food all first class. A bedroom of a good size and great comfort. We had great treatments at the spa. The pool area where was small and whilst I worried about there being sufficient loungers this was never a problem. The hotel was about 7 minutes by car which the hotel provided with their compliments. When you leave Leuu Estate you tell yourself you must come back - quality, class, tranquility and luxury personified. My wife and I absolutely loved it!!!
Exceptional property with exceptional service.
We visited the estate to experience both the stunning surroundings and to taste the incredible wines. The Chenin Blancs and Syrahs were deliciously good , as was the knowledgeable and friendly sommelier. Would definitely recommended a visit if around 3 hours as we also ate lunch in the garden restaurant- disappointedly La Petite Combe was booked up.
