A little expensive
Had an unexpected trip to Powell River on a summer weekend. Stayed at a different property the first night, unaware of The Town Centre Hotel. Hotel choices are limited in this small town. Lucked out when I called as I needed to stay in town a second night and they had a queen room available. Front desk was very pleasant in greeting and efficient during check-in. Room was very clean though somewhat dated. No real issues though. Would stay here again if I’m ever in town.

This hotel advertises access to a fitness facility. I was staying at the hotel with my two teen boys, one was in a hockey tournament. Since one of my sons was in a hockey tournament, I was not permitted to use the gym. I read the rules of the gym before my arrival, must be an adult, pay a deposit, return the gym key/fob after each use, but somehow they forgot to mention in the rules that the gym if not for use by all paying guests. I argued with them and they told me that it isn't just minor hockey parents who cannot use the gym but other groups and people are not allowed. I told them it was false advertising and discrimination. The management that I spoke to did not seem to care. The rooms are outdated. The towels are thin and old and so are the sheets. The price should be cheaper for such a shabby room.
Owner has a strict 48 hr cancellation policy. We prepaid for a two night stay, then our plans changed suddenly to just one night, but the owner would not refund - "That's our policy." The motel was virtually empty, now we understand why. Assessment records indicated it was built in 1955, bathroom looked recently reno'd. Has a good location outside the downtown area of Powell River.

Hotel used to provide a continental free breakfast and a discount on an ordered breakfast. Would like to have that again.
This hotel is in a very convenient location, which is the primary reason we stay there. This visit was one of many that we have made over the past 4 years, and we were quite astounded at how old/tired the decor, bathroom fixtures, carpets, etc. are. It's like opening a door to the 60's...and not intentionally to reflect a retro style. Also, the sheets felt like they were on their last leg...definitely not the crisp and fresh quality that one anticipates when staying at a hotel that charges 230.00+ per night. During previous visits, we received a $10.00 voucher toward breakfast...not this time! The one positive comment I have is regarding the service provided by desk clerk Deanna, who cleared up a booking error on our part.
