Poor location and the shuttle bus advertised is very limited . Large impersonal hotel appears set up for large groups . Reception was unfriendly and unhelpful .
Room was ok clean but not exceptional
Breakfast absolutely terrible very poor choice even the orange juice and coffee were horrible
There is much better I’m sure in the area
Large impersonal hotel which seems to cater for large coach parties.
Poor location with complimentary bus to main station but times were very limited
Reception staff very poor , hardly even looked up as you passed by so unlike anywhere else in Japan
Room v hot air con didn’t appear to work properly
Breakfast was terrible large circular tables to suit larger parties . Orange juice and coffee almost undrinkable
Much better options in the area I’m sure

Excelente. Uma das melhores
Experiências de estadia.
Room dated and smelt of cigarettes. A dehumidifier was in the room but didn't help. Dripping tap in bathroom, only stayed one night so suffered it. Wednesday night bar closed (suspect it's always closed) and absolutely nothing around it. Hotel is too far out of town so shuttle bus advertised but too infrequent and at inconvenient times. Last one back is 20.45, hardly had time for a meal. Breakfast very good, lots of choice.
Hotel was booked in a package so don't know how much was paid but definitely not a 4 star hotel.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kokusai 21. It's a nice and big hotel and the staff were all very kind. The rooms were spacious and clean. They also offer a breakfast buffet for a fee and it's really amazing. It's not easy to find a place to eat in the morning, so having a breakfast buffet in the hotel was really great and convenient. I definitely recommend staying here if you are in Nagano.
Excellent front desk staff. They were patient in answering our questions about shuttle and train schedules. Our baggage was waiting in our room using a transfer service. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.
Big rooms, convenient location, helpful staff
良かった
For North American travellers, this hotel is much better than its rating on this site. My partner and I were in an executive level suite and I suspect that it was used for VIPs during the 1998 Olympics. Very spacious, comfortable, soaker tub and separate shower. Walking distance to restaurants, 5 minute drive to Nagano station (hotel offers free shuttle), and close to Zenkoji (temple). Beautiful property, excellent staff. Highly recommended.

Two adults two teens stayed in a Quad room (2 singles 2 rollaway beds) in Jan 2025 for 5 nights and separate corner sofa. The hotel is huge with different wings so need to get your bearings. Nagano was our base for day trips to snow monkeys, Matsumoto, and to ski. The hotel is older (winter Olympics HQ) but was generally well maintained. Front desk staff were amazing, they had limited English but used a translator, and so friendly every time we passed and so helpful booking restaurants and forwarding luggage (note cash only and this hotel will only forward to a hotel, not the airport). We had breakfast every day which was compact but tasty (Nagano apple juice and apple jam are delicious). We had Italian in the hotel our first night, it was ok and convenient. The top floor bar had a pretty night view, fixed price for a small but well stocked self serve bar and packaged snacks. The hotel free shuttle to/from the station is convenient, but for early or late trips we just got a taxi for Y1,000. Ten minutes pleasant walk to the shopping street leading to the temple. There are only two washing machines and dryers in the hotel so they got very busy but were really useful (coins required, no coin machine but desk staff happy to change). I was initially unsure about this hotel and staying 5 nights but we really enjoyed it and would happily go back.
