Window didn’t shut properly, rate for a dog was outrageous at £25 each! Building work being done on level 2 … was not aware when I booked. Also read small print as car parking is extra.

There was road works going on outside until after 1am the place is in desperate need of a clean and paint perhaps a full referb, the mattresses were not great, one of the bathrooms had smashed tiles on the floor which would cut anyone's bare feet, the stairs were very steep and narrow, one of the rooms on offer was so damp the smell was awful

Everything. Got there, nobody there just a set of keys on the table with my name. The rooms looked like a HMO.
After returning from a friends birthday at 22:30, the keys they gave us which should be for front door and room, were both room. So we were locked out. The numbers given on the email wasn’t answered. Literally stranded 3 hours from home.

I made a late booking (about 8pm) and said I would arrive between 9 and 10. When I turned up the door was unlocked but all the lights were off and no one was there. There was a table with keys on it and a note of who was in which room, but I wasn't on it. I rang the number that was written down about 5 times, but there was no answer. In the end I just picked a key for a room with no name next to it and let myself in. In the morning I told a lady who was very nice which room I was in, and she said that was fine. It was a very bizarre experience, anyone could just wander in and pick an empty room and crash without paying. I'm glad I had a portable door lock with me for extra security.
It was cleanish, although the bathroom could do with a deep clean and there were cobwebs all over the ceiling. The sink in room 7 was much too small and didn't drain very well. There was a lot of dust on the kettle. There was a ton of black mould around the window in the stairwell. The pillows were very thin, and there was just a thin sheet on the mattress, no protector or anything.
I did have a look in one of the other empty rooms and they looked much nicer but I'd unpacked by that point and it was around midnight so I didn't want to disturb others by moving, so maybe it's just room 7 that could do with a bit of an overhaul.

Reception procedure wasn't obvious on arrival (one inevitably walks straight to the bar counter in a pub).
Slightly noisy out the front, being on the main road, not helped by being in front of a junction too. But not too bad.
Maybe I missed it, but a limited choice of cereals at breakfast.

It felt worn out and tired.

Needs a smoke alarm in the bathroom.

No one present at hotel no food or drink just a piece of paper giving you directions to rooms you could not find. Total horrible experience I went to another hotel
