Location was perfect being in the middle of town.
Parking at the back.
Nice little pub and food was excellent but pricey!
We had room with single beds, lovely nights sleep.
Breakfast was very nice and filling.
The little cleaning lady was very nice, she greeted us as we went for breakfast and she waved us off with a beaming smile when we left. 🙋♀️
Only thing that was bad was the thread bare carpet on the stairs up to the room and creaky stairs..
Location, ambience
Great location, nice room & clean.
Lovely staff.
Excellent atmosphere.
...and slept like a log, the bed was super comfortable!
Nothing.
In the centre of Oakham.
There is a carpark at the rear but it is hard to find and very poor signage. Phone for directions.
Great staff and a nice breakfast
The hotel location is good, right in the middle of town. Great location to visit Oakham Castle & museum, Stamford, Rutland water and surrounding villages. The staff were helpful and the breakfasts were excellent.
Room 8 was very close to & overlooked by houses and their car park. The bin for the bar bottles and the laundry room were directly below the room. The room is an attic and even with the fan on all night was unbearably hot in the heatwave.
We moved to bigger room 5 which was above the kitchen and a bit better location but still very hot due to the heatwave and a bit noisy due to the kitchen extractor vent.
Clean and staff friendly
Loud as on the high street
Great pub with a lovely garden and lovely staff. Very comfortable rooms but it was very hot as we were in a heatwave (we did have a fan though)! Loved the big towels and great shower.
Ideal accommodation in the centre of Oakham with a small car park for probably 6 cars. Had a quiet nights sleep in a comfortable room. Luckily there was a fan in the room which kept the heat bearable. The pub/hotel is a lovely traditional pub serving excellent food and has a wide range of drinks available.
Nothing
Great location great food
I met a business colleague for a meal Tues Eve as i stay there a few times per year. The food service was really poor - the server never once smiled or chatted to us checked to see if all was ok .... We felt like we were an irritant to her ,it was a little embarrassing as i had invited a guest. It was a busy night due to the football in the other bars however i mentioned the complete lack of service and any engagement. When paying my bill of over £90 for pub food that was as always really nice ... to the food manager he simply apologized and just brushed it off without concern or addressing my complaint at all .Will look for other places to stay locally when visiting.
Convenient location. Good shower. Comfortable beds. Pleasant staff.
Uncomfortable seating in dining areas for older people.. A few armchairs would be good. Too hot in the bedroom but it was during a heatwave on this occasion.
The room was clean and looked quite fresh. Spacious and plenty of light. I hadn't realised how old the property was, which was a bonus.
There was a gentleman who looked after us at breakfast, really excellent host. I didn't take his name, but he really looked after us.
Really lovely garden area and parking to the rear. This was not the easiest to find, just ask behind the bar and they will give you the postcode.
The room was really hot! There was a fan in the room, but maybe worth having more?
I do understand that it's an old building and the hotelier doesn't control the weather.
Breakfast was excellent. Nice choices, fresh produce, plenty of it.
Location was lovely, centrally placed in the quaint market town.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Since it was summer and light quite ate curtains or blinds on the velux windows would have been good.
Great location, lovely pub, clean, comfortable room
