My wife and I recently stayed at Hacienda Peña Pobre and cannot recommend it enough. Tucked away in the southern part of the city, this boutique property is the perfect, quiet retreat after a long day of exploring CDMX's vibrant neighborhoods and local dining.
The hospitality was exceptional from the very first moment. We were greeted right at the entrance to the property, and by the time we walked over to reception, the staff was already fully prepared to receive us with refreshing welcome drinks. After check-in, they gave us a wonderful tour of the beautiful grounds, which blend historic hacienda charm with modern comforts and lush greenery, before personally walking us to our room.
They had already taken our bags up for us, making settling in completely effortless. The thoughtful touches continued inside, where we were delighted to find a welcome gift of local candies and nuts waiting for us. The room itself was spacious, impeccably clean, and incredibly comfortable, providing a relaxing escape from the busy city outside.
The attentive service didn't stop at check-in. Every time we left the property and called an Uber, the staff was right there to open the car door for us. Even better, whenever we returned and it was raining, they would literally run out to the car to meet us and provide us with an umbrella. We truly felt cared for during our entire stay here.
If you are looking for a unique, beautifully maintained property in Mexico City that feels like a private sanctuary with top-tier service, this is the place to book. We had a fantastic experience and would absolutely return!
Arquitectura y ubicación
El acceso al estacionamiento es reducido.
Hacienda Peña Pobre is a beautiful hotel with charming architecture, a relaxing atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help.
The only downside is the location. There aren't many restaurants within walking distance, so if you're staying for more than a couple of days, it's worth doing a little research ahead of time to find nearby dining options or plan for transportation.
There is a nice park walking distance that has a few vendor stalls. Good trail for walking and running.
We chose this hotel because it was conveniently located near Estadio Azteca and was a great stopping point before continuing our trip south of Mexico City. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to travelers looking for a comfortable, peaceful hotel with outstanding service.
Beautiful building and a nice patio to enjoy breakfast
Hard to identify from the street
It’s a quiet, tranquil, comfortable and wonderful boutique hotel within a noisy and high vibe city.
The breakfast it’s really complete and the options in the menu were delicious. The suites are spacious, the lighting elegant and the furniture well arranged.
The staff was always helpful and smiley.
Can’t think of anything we didn’t like.
The hotel itself is a magical building, a very successful modern conversion of a historical hacienda, linked with the family of Hernan Cortes himself, with references also to its more recent past as a paper factory. Located just next to el Bosque de (forest of) Tlalpan, so lovely and green. The staff were amazing, especially Antonio, Miguel, Jesús and Adrián - among others! They're all good and go way beyond the expected to make their guests happy and at home.
Honestly, the hotel is amazing for the price! But the restaurant is in an outdoor patio and sometimes cold in the mornings. Breakfast is great, but the menu is very limited after breakfast (but what they do serve is still good). For variety, there are a range of restaurants within 15 minutes walk at Plaza Cuicuilco mall.
