Rock Fort Hotel

This hotel was very disappointing. Upon arrival the hotel did not reflect the photographs or the description advertised on the website. The 'sea view' could be glimpsed by stretching on ones tip toes to view over a roof, the pool was tiny and dirty and the 'beach' was a man made area with unsafe 'decking'. The rooms were average, if you're above the kitchen then don't expect to sleep as noisy fans run all night. I spoke with the manager after night 1 who agreed to move me 'immediately', upon returning to the hotel 4 hours later after a trip out my room was still not ready. I called 4 times to remind them to clean the room. An hour and a half later i moved in to find the bed had not been changed. The cleaning service at this hotel is incredibly poor.
On the first day breakfast was very poor with the only Western option being fruit (with flies) or an egg station. The manager of the restaurant asked how our breakfast was and we shared our thoughts. He asked us what we'd like the following day and ensured we had options. He went out of his way each day to ensure we had an enjoyable breakfast- this was the only redeeming part of our stay!!!
I was very excited about this trip as I was meeting my family (I live overseas), they'd brought my home comforts such as chocolate. I stored these items in the fridge during my stay. On the final day I was incredibly disappointed to find some of these items had been taken. When this was raised with the cleaning staff they found it funny!

dust bunnies in room lack of amenities like shampoo and free water. but comfortable and friendly. Location is great and a good price. At first I wasn't impressed but it was strangely welcoming and I would come again! Local food and atmosphere on the beach is fantastic and affordable.

Very dated property. Management should do some touch up to the rooms and facilities. The location and the view of the sunset is excellent.

Hotel staff were friendly. Empty hotel for the first day then a big wedding party appeared the second day. It felt awkward to use the hotel facilities, especially the pool area. The pool chairs and tables appears old. The hotel needs to have women cleaners instead of men . The mirrors were dirty and bathroom counter was not properly clean. The door lock was questionable and the rooms need better secure locks. The hotel was in the quiet part of town. It was expensive and not worth the price.

The hotel was nice and only a short walk to Unawatuna Beach. However there was allot of noisy construction work, loud weddings until the early hours of the morning which you could here throughout the hotel and the restaurant staff kept finding excuses to call or knock the door to wake us for breakfast even though we repeatedly asked them not to. The restaurant was expensive but the price of the rooms were reasonable.
