Great will go again despite my food commitments, lovely historic hotel please go great place
Pros:

Staff all fantastic, building gorgeous. location. parking and service was the best

Cons:

Well, evening menu limited a bit for me, breakfast luke warm and under cooked a bit for me, suggest a hash brown instead of potato triangular pad, wine per glass expensive especially but all that said buy a bottle overall enjoyed it even after saying that still good definitely go I will again !!!

Average
Pros:

Pictures nothing to do with the reality.
Dated rooms, room number 12 bathroom fan (tractor) never stopped in whole. Light.

Cons:

The pancakes did not seem freshly made and appeared to have been reheated. We were asked to come for breakfast at 9:30, but when we arrived some buffet items were already unavailable.
We politely asked if they could be replenished, but felt our request was not very well received, even though we were only asking for basic items.

Pros:

I booked this hotel for my daughter as a Christmas present. She said the location was perfect, it was clean, the staff were friendly, and in her words very posh 🤣

Really nice hotel, perfect for a romantic weekend away.
Pros:

Beautiful old building full of great rooms, allowing for a very comfy stay. Our room was comfortable and warm, Nice walks from the hotel. We had an excellent 7 course taster menu with wine pairing in the Arboreal restaurant in the evening.

Birthday getaway
Pros:

The staff are amazing and so very helpful and cannot do enough for you.
We had the afternoon tea, bought for us as a present. We have had many afternoon teas previously and have to say this was by far the best we have ever had anywhere.
Breakfast was really nice too.
We took our small dog who was spoilt rotten and was given a pot of treats and dog toy to keep.
Will definitely be back
Thanks Martin and Linze Watson

Lovely location with exceptional service from the staff.
Pros:

The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The room was a good size, the bed extremely comfortable and facilities replenished daily. The view from the shared lounge and dining rooms exceptional. The breakfast and evening meals were great.

Cons:

A very minor issue was that the room was hot overnight despite the freezing conditions outside.

ok but disappointing in a Fawlety Towers way
Pros:

location, the building, that some of the staff if raw tried.

Cons:

Breakfast service was dreadful one day - 50 mins between bringing tea and taking the food order "we were very busy 11 tables arrived at the same time" not good enough.
the grill dining experience was disappointing, we ate twice but only as didn't want to make the effort to go out.
never nice to find a previous occupants knickers under the bed
the shower pressure was so poor and little improved after staff had checked it.
external flood lights left on to 2.00 am as this disturbs sleep.
The property needs a manager to drive standards as this is far from a 4 star property but could be with some care.
