This hotel gives me mixed feelings. While we have been in most 4/5 star hotels in Bangkok the last few years, we deliberately now choose for a hotel in the centre of Chinatown. The location is awesome if you want to be in Chinatown, which is very busy and very urban. You have on 5min walk the hopon/hopoff boat, 5min to the Metro/subway and 1 minute walk into the busiest Chinatown Tourist street with all food and souvenirshops. opposite the hotel you have a cool night market , and 1 block away there are the (sun)glasses market and mobile phone markets. All good, but now the hotel : The entrance/lobby looks stylish, but in the main hall there in a Starbucks cafe, and a small restaurant (also breakfast room) where they do very loud Karaoke whole day ;-(
On the first and second floor you will notice it is a very old building , there used to be shops there but is looks like the last shop was alive in the eighties ..... And when you go to your room, you also will notice : this WAS a great modern hotel ...... in the 80's / 90's . The 360 restaurant bar on the roof has thsame old fashioned image, and time really stood still here for about 30 years. But it is a nice view , and the cocktails , drinks and snacks are OK , pricing is reasonable and the staffis very nice. One floor down you can walk to the outside terrace bar with a tiny simmingpool on the corner of the hotel. not really big but it was OK.
On the 17th floor there is a "GEN Z" bar ....... with super loud music , outside terrace and high priced coffee and rinks and food , for us a no go. Even when there is no visitor at all , I measured 96dB of 90's disco.... I love a Dj for a night out , but this was only the background music. Staff in here was also not that friendly, not a very welcoming atmosphere.
GEn Z bar was terrible , noisy and bad vibe. Breakfast was very sober , one of the poorest we ever had in Thailand hotels. Loud Karaoke in the lobbybar was very noisy every day. The hotel is a bit outdated.
