We booked a room that said it had a terrace and hot tub - it had neither of these things and the staff then told us that such a room did not exist. There is no a la carte restaurant, only buffet, which is a bit of a shame. There is also no bar - just an area where you need to flag someone down to be able to get a drink, and this service stops at 10pm!

Comfortable beds, excellent interior with some Tibetan influence, lovely welcoming lobby, hot ginger tea guests can help themselves with at the lobby, helpful reception and concierge, there’s an oxygen bar (room) for guests to use and very efficient lifts.
-The washrooms on the lobby floor ran out hand washing liquid.
-Breakfast buffet, some dishes were not labeled, some details like presentation were not up to standard for a brand name like Shangri La
The decor of the entire hotel was in sync with the region of Shangri-la.

Our stay at the Shangri-la Resort in Shangri-la City was magnificent from the time we checked in till our departure. The front desk attendant was patient in answering our questions and requests and made sure that our queries were well taken care of. The porter who escorted us to our room, took our luggage and gave us a thorough introduction to the hotel and its facilities - the warm welcome continued.
Shangri-la City is at 3200m above sea level which can make many people feel unwell with altitude sickness, which affected my wife. The hotel caters for this by having an 'oxygen lounge' that is a room enriched with oxygen where guests can sit and relax whilst acclimating to the environment. The hotel rooms are well appointed with 5 star amenities. Furthermore, the hotel offers late check-outs when available and free transfers to/from the train station and airport.
The hotel manager was attentive, responsive and went through extra mile to ensure we have a comfortable stay.
In summary, we couldn't have asked for more.

We had a fantastic stay at the Shangri-La resort and would highly recommend it!
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the hotel's grandeur and beautiful decor. Our room was lovely—it was well-decorated, clean, and so cozy. We especially loved the high-quality amenities and the stunning view of the mountains and town.
The complimentary breakfast was another highlight. There were so many delicious options, and we really enjoyed the variety. The staff were very attentive and always ready to help. While some didn't speak much English, we easily communicated using a translation app, and it was no problem at all.
One of the most thoughtful things they did was surprise a family member with a birthday cake and a card. It was such a special touch that really showed their incredible hospitality.
The resort is also in a great location. It was just a quick Didi ride to the ancient town, or a nice short walk if we felt like strolling. Plus, they even offer a convenient shuttle service to and from the airport or train station if you book it in advance.
Overall, we had a truly wonderful time and can't say enough good things about our experience!

The staff were really nice; however the room had a little bit of a smell when we were there. The windows also don't open all the way which didn't help with getting rid of the smell. The TV was located at a weird position on the wall, but the location of the hotel was pretty central to everything.

Beautiful decor - Tibetan style yet not overtly religious. Still with Shangri-La’s signature scent in the lobby. Modern and comfortable rooms. Excellent location within 15mins walk to the Old Town.
Service was personalised and staff were very helpful.
