The Royal Pier Hotel is tired and over priced.
Pros:

It is at the end of the pier only a few metres from the beach. The check-in and breakfast staff were charming. We did not use the pool so cannot comment on that.

Cons:

For the same price as the Premier Inn 30m away you get a small room on a noisy street. The TV is about A3 size. They had ‘run out’ of fans. There was no hairdryer. It was not clean. There is loud live music every night until 11pm. Breakfast is served only between 0830-0930, the menu is limited and they only serve instant coffee. The carpets and decor are decades old. The Travelodge in Ryde was less than half the price, cleaner, had the fan on prior to our arrival and was more comfortable.

Great value
Pros:

Although a very old seaside hotel, Very clean, all paintwork crisp and fresh. Nice helpful staff. Breakfast super efficient with table service. Not the sort of place I'd normally stay as probably aimed at older people on holiday, but no complaints from me.

Cons:

I liked everything about my visit

A Warm Welcome in an Amazing Seaside Location
Pros:

Very friendly staf, we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The location is amazing, so close to the sea. We loved the bar area, where they showed the England football match. It was great to enjoy the game without having to go anywhere else. The beds were very comfortable and had good-quality mattresses, which was especially important for my mum. I hope I’ll be able to book another stay there sometime, perhaps with a sea-view room next time.

Glad it was for only one night
Pros:

Checking out

Cons:

The single "room". Pokey and depressing Brick wall pattern wallpaper????
The even more depressing" view" from the window ~ back walls and flat roof
The noise from the bar, so loud I had to turn the tv volume up and up
The noise from the ~ very unreliable - lift right next to my room door
