The rooms in individual cottages are fairly comfortable and spacious. There are views of the green hills to be had from abundant windows but with other cottages around, you may have to keep the curtains drawn. The bathroom had heating arrangements too. The housekeeping staff are regular with cleaning and changing towels and tea bags daily. There is free Wi-fi available only in the lobby and dining area. The buffet spread is quite good and the proprietors were rather welcoming at the dinner table. Helpful front desk staff too and you can use computers in the lobby too.
Now for the drawbacks, the location of Metta Resort is a little away from the main town of Paro. If you are looking to stay within walking distance of the town center and shops then you will be disappointed. The small inroad from the main road through to the resort may seem intimidating at night because there are no lights to show the way and it is pitch dark. The resort though is well lit and serviced, no complaints there. To get to the town is a fair trek and a reserved taxi for three costs about 300Nu and for a single person about 150 Nu. The resort is fairly busy and there were a lot of corporate events and private birthday parties going on. If you do not mind that scene, then go for Metta Resort.
Pros: room size, amenities, premises, food, staff, views from room/ resort. Had the best culinary experience in my entire Bhutan trip .... mostly from Indian cuisine standpoint. Great rooms, premises, sit out areas and scenic views from everywhere.
Cons: a little off the town centre, off the main road. Not so easy to get public transport e.g. local taxis. The hotel taxis have exhorbitant rates, and charge 2-4x what local taxis would charge you for town drop (4 km), airport drop (14 km) etc. Local site seeing packages look reasonable, but quality of taxi provided was poor.
Overall, enjoyed the stay here. Will recommend to others as well.
